I booked a rental for my boyfriend and I on 25th October and couldn‘t be happier. This was my first trip to Japan and wearing a kimono was one thing on my bucket list I absolutely had to do during our stay in Kyoto. I‘ve researched quite a lot which shop to go to as I wanted to book a photographer to take pictures of us as well, but the shear amount of stores offering rentals got overwhelming real quick.

My choice to go to Andot because of the good reviews it had, was definitely the right one, as the japanese owners are so sweet and welcoming. I‘ve had a whole english conversation (which was a first for me after 2 weeks in Japan) during my dress up as she speaks english very well, so time flew by very quickly. After I got my hair done I went down the stairs and my boyfriend definitely gave me „the look“ when he saw me. I looked absolutely beautiful!

To book the 1hour outdoor photoshoot was also the best choice I could have made. The photographer was so nice and easy to work with. He gave clear instructions how to pose that I didn‘t feel awkward one bit, even for someone like me who usually hates photos being taken of me. In the end we had well over the promised amount of photos in so many different locations. My boyfriend even managed to get the photographer on board for his proposal, so I got beautiful pictures of the moment I was waiting for for such a long...

We had a lovely kimono rental experience a couple of days back and both Tomoko and her partner Atushi were incredibly helpful. Very professional service throughout. We booked through their website a few weeks in advance as we wanted to hire from a reputable local vendor. The owners are a couple of local tailors both incredibly knowledgeable about kimonos and Japanese fashion. All the items in the shop are very high quality and well kept. I believe they make most of the items themselves. Once we picked our items, we got dressed in the store and Tomoko did a beautiful traditional Japanese hairstyle to complement my chosen kimono. The store also offers professional photoshoots - we did a 30 min long session with lovely Yuki. We walked for about 5 minutes to a shrine around the corner and received a total of 65 lightly edited images THE NEXT DAY. Yuki is not messing about! The store lets you keep the kimonos until 7 pm, plenty of time to walk around the area and get a few more shots. I'd also like to mention that we received many compliments from locals who were very impressed with the quality of our items. Highly recommend this spot! The owners speak...

This is the place to rent a kimono or yukata if you are in Kyoto. They have high-quality kimonos that are beautiful and well-cared-for. I rented a beautiful kimono with goldwork embroidery detail. I allowed the staff to help with decisions to make sure everything looked perfect. I didn't have my passport on me for tax-free purposes, but if you do, they can give you that tax-free benefit.

Absolutely gorgeous kimonos, yukatas, and furisodes to go through and I loved the one I picked. I wanted something nice, but also appropriate for my age (furisodes are for much younger, single women). I picked out my kimono, obi, hairstyle and accessories and the woman at the shop helped me get dressed. I decided to do the photo package with the store so I could get good pictures since I was traveling alone, and I’m so glad I did.

If you're into embroidery, I'll point out that my kimono had goldwork accents along the bottom (hand sewn metal couched onto the fabric, done expertly)

I loved it so much, I went back the next day and bought myself a yukata for home!!!...

We had a phenomenal experience here. If you're looking for an authentic kimono experience, and for the perfect outfit and hair for the 'gram, you've come to the right place. The shop owner is Japanese and is also a passionate kimono designer, having multiple magazines published to showcase his work. He is extremely friendly, kind, and fun! His wife and staff are meticulous in their craft and very efficient. They put in so much effort to connect with us and get to know us, making our entire experience so wonderful and comfortable. Since the owner is a kimono designer, he understands what goes into the pairing of the kimono and the obi, and will give you advice/options on which obi/accessories to select to match your chosen kimono pattern. We had photographers from New York stop us on the streets so they could take pics of our kimono for the hotel group they work for! This store is a MUST visit if you're wanting to experience an authentic kimono day. Thank you for giving my sister, best friend, and me such an incredible day on our first trip to Japan 💕🥰

It was our first time wearing a Kimono and there were so many shops that we did not know which shop to go with so it took us many days to think.. Luckily one day, we chanced upon their shop on IG and we loveeee their Kimono choices they look so quality and the photos from photoshoot were amazing. We fell in love and knew this was the shop we had to choose!! My husband and I were very well taken care of by the shop owners - who are also husband and wife :) very friendly, chatty and fantastic vibes. They helped to provide options to pair our Kimono and the whole thing was a breeze. We went for the premium Kimono 👘 🙌 best choice ever! We also chose to have a 30mins photoshoot. Love the whole experience and will definitely return with my other family members. Imo the shop location is accessible to Arashiyama and then back to central area for snacks before returning the Kimono. There is also an option to choose to return via courier pickup at hotel the next morning. Very fuss-free. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking to rent kimono! 💯
