With so much joy I write this review. This was beyond my favorite experience in Japan, my heart felt so complete. These people welcomed us as foreigners in with no hesitation, even tho we aren’t speaking the language we all felt the kindness and hospitality from them. Every single detail to the experience was such a pleasure and I could tell every step was done with the customer in mind. Every piece of nigiri was made to perfection and tasted like heaven. This is beyond some of the best Niger we’ve ever had. I would highly recommend choosing this place you won’t be disappointed! We arrived at 11:40 to wait in line early and they had to turn away a lot of people bc it was full asap! If the older gentleman tells you to return in “45 minutes” I would recommend finding something to do and then come back! The wait for food is a little long so keep this in mind coming in as it is only the 2 making the delicious food to order! So be patient and come to experience an authentic place in Kyoto! As we were leaving we the couple was so kind. The lady stepped away from making the food to thank us and walk us out to ask us where we were from and tell us they had a big variety of fish today! Such a wholesome experience! Don’t miss out on this...
Read moreThis is an incredibly cozy spot for dinner. The food is delicious and made with care. It’s a husband and wife team and they make everything from scratch. They do not speak English which is understandable seeing as though we are in Japan. They have a menu with English and they presented us with a sign when we arrived that was in English and told us we would need to wait 60 minutes for dinner. We didn’t have any other plans so we weren’t in a hurry and it was well worth the wait. We were in the restaurant when a family became irate about how long they were waiting for food. The family’s behavior was appalling. They then left an unwarranted poor review of the establishment and said that foreigners are not welcome. This is not true. My husband and I are foreigners and we were treated with respect (as was the family from what I observed - even with their poor behavior) and fed in the order we had arrived. Google asks for individual ratings for food, service, and atmosphere and I can honestly and easily give 5 stars for all three categories. If you have the time, this is a delightful dining experience and I’m so grateful we got to enjoy it...
Read moreThis was one of the best restaurants that I visited in Kyoto! It is a little hidden away, but it was absolutely immaculate. The sushi also had a great price. The only two people who seem to be working there are the nicest elderly couple I have ever met. They do not speak English, but their menu is translated and has accurate pictures. The inside of the store is adorable, and since we had a group of six, we got to sit in the little area where you sit on cushions on the floor. If you want to eat here, be prepared to have a bit of a wait. The sushi takes time because it is crafted with precision and love; however, it is entirely worth the wait. The nigiri was some of the best I have had in my life. The fish was perfectly fresh and simply melts in your mouth. Every piece was put together with the utmost care and attention. Unfortunately, we had a bus to catch, so we did have to eat in a bit of a rush, but the couple was so considerate and understanding. You will not regret coming to...
