Oud is a beautiful store that is an experience in itself to discover and browse! I came across this place looking for ceramics shops on google maps, and am so glad I didn’t check the hours on Google first (said it was closed on Monday, which is the day I went), because it was actually open! It can be a little hard to find but the small sign at the beginning of the small path leading to the store helps :) The store owner was extremely nice and friendly. He used google translate to communicate with me and humored my broken Japanese. He shared the history of the store and showed me renovation photos of him and his friends completely remodeling the place! He also lifted the wooden floors at the back of the store to show me the pottery throwing wheels kept from the original 100+ year old ceramic kiln. The fact that it was a rainy day actually heightened the atmosphere of the store; a beautiful pipe running down the middle of the store and the pattering of rain on the shed ceiling goes to show how well thought out and designed this place is. I bought 3 beautiful ceramics pieces at extremely reasonable prices and can’t wait to go home and recall this place whenever I use them! 5/5 recommend to anybody looking for a special artsy experience and something off the beaten path. Must go in Kyoto!

beautiful interior artisanal store. Curated from artist from all over Japan and vintage overseas clothings and interior pieces. it feels like you are entering a museum, giving you a deeper appreciation Japanese concepts of spaces, wabi sabi, and japanese traditional and modern art. Walk through a narrow road and at the end while it looks like a pile of construction materials, you know you will soon greeted by another beautiful space, with ambience music and the lighting in the store. The shopkeeper is also friendly and warm, explaining to us where each pieces are from. You could see from the way he dress that he is eccentric and has amazing taste. Would come back again and hopefully able to buy a vase!

The vibe in this place is amazing. It’s quirky details like the transparent rain pipe in the middle of the room that make really special. It is at the end of a narrow road on the left of a parking space. Google can show exactly where it is

This shop is beautiful! My wife and I came on a rainy day and were very impressed with the collection of pottery and ceramics in the store. We found two amazing pots that the shop owner is helping us to pack and ship back overseas. We will definitely be back next time we...
