Mikihan Ryokan — Hotel in Kyoto

If you first time to go kyoto. Want to experience traditional Japaness hospitality moderate budget ( around 15000 yen person except sakura season. This one is very good choice. Have enough room, good location, spacious room 10~12 Tatami(can sleep up to six person), most of all, inroom dining.||remeber must to book half board(breakfast and dinner). ||This hotel is mostly host Japanese, But for foreign also welcome, you need book via email.Your name will show in the entrance Although not too much staff can speak english, but they will try best to help you. The breakfast and dinner is served in the room. You need appoint what time you want to have. when time coming. the staff will set up table,and serve meal, drink beside you. the food is so delicious(for japanese) You may find other better one in some famous kitchen. But the price is super high. Then bathroom is super small for this price. This hotel is not targeting overseas travelers, or TripAdvisor plaudits (no offence to this website hosts), which gives it its charm. However, was a great alternative experience. With the bed and dining at traditional floor level. ||||The hotel staff had limited English, enough for simple communication. They were friendly, polite and seemed not to mind our potential cultural ignorance. ||||We stayed half-board and eat like a King & Queen, The ladies who served our food were very friendly, though we did not share many words in each others languages. The food portions for breakfast and dinner were great.||||The hotel is a bit old, and in need of a renovation, especially the bathroom.||||Overall for a foreigner a unique experience to stay at a traditional Ryokan, and recommended for the more adventurous, who are happy not to sleep in a big 5 star hotel double bed.||||The location is central and nearby the main shopping areas, market and Gion area. The hotel was very nice and clean. The room was spacious, clean, and had all the needed amenities. The staff were very friendly and professional, and the front counter staff were perfectly able to handle guests in English. The meals provided were great, especially the sukiyaki dinner which was filling and delicious.||||Location isn't the greatest, about 8min walk to the nearest subway station.
