Beautiful shop with very kind staff!

The desserts look luxurious and premium, and their taste confirms this. I chose to make my own selection, and bought 3 different sweets, 2 of each, but you can also purchase gift pouches which contain 6 of a kind in a gift box etc.

I can't remember the names of the items I got unfortunately as they are in Japanese, but they were all variations of mochi.

1 with a thinner layer filled with red beans 1 with a fresh strawberry sticking out and red bean filling 1 which was a gooey substance. It comes with a wooden stick that you stir inside this powdery substance...

We tried several Japanese dessert shops but Akasaka Aono Wagashi is our favorite. It’s a shop right dab in a modestly busy street where lots of foot traffic can stop by and has colorful signs showing their offerings.

We decided on the main item pictured and absolutely loved it. Each package includes two pieces of soft mochi covered in powdered brown sugar. It also included a small clear syrup container.

Deliciously fresh and wonderfully flavorful. Will remember this sweet delicacy for a long time.

お〜、なかなか予約すら困難な夏の風物詩ともなっている赤坂青野の「冷しみたらし」をいただいてしまった。嬉しいなぁ〜。

前身の餅菓子屋「青野」は江戸時代から続く店。駄菓子から甘味を含む餅菓子屋に商売内容を変化させつつ、1899年（明治32年）に赤坂７丁目に移転し改めて創業。この辺りのお屋敷の御用聞きをして商いをしていたそう。現在は5代目が継ぐ。

店の人気商品の一つに3代目の開発した「赤坂もち」がある。お餅の中に胡桃と黒糖が練りこまれていて、わざわざ黒糖を別途に掛ける必要がない。これは時々購入する。

そして今年で125年になる老舗和菓子屋「赤坂青野」さんの最近のヒット商品は言わずと知れた「冷やしみたらし」。 今回、期せずして友人で人気の食漫画の原作者からもらってしまった。なかなか予約も出来ないので、ホント嬉しい。サンキューベリーマッチ。
