Delicious local food OKUTAMA Kitchen — Local services in Tokyo

I had coupons from the Winter Tourism Campaign, and as I am a tourist, whose main purpose was to climb Mt Kumotori, I did not have time to shop around with the cash coupons. I visited this shop as it was one of the listed ones for the coupon redemption.

It turned out to be a good thing! The variety of bento was good, and for the price-point, it was delicious. We had a cod fish bento (delicious and very filling, a lot of rice!), and a fried fish bento. Oyako-bento was tasty too (we had it for dinner later that evening). There was space upstairs to dine.

I stopped by this shop in Okutama that sells bento and ice cream. I ordered an ice cream cone for 500 yen. Within two minutes of walking away (less than 50 meters), the ice cream just slipped right off the cone and fell onto the pavement. It wasn’t like I was holding it strangely — it simply wasn’t seated properly in the cone.

I brought it back immediately, explained what happened, and asked if they could throw it away. The staff kindly did so, but that was the end of it. No offer of a replacement or refund. For 500 yen, I expected at least some kind of gesture, especially since it seemed like the ice cream wasn’t fixed securely from the start.
