Arasawaya Inn — Hotel in Tokyo

I planned to climb Mt Odake and didn’t want to make the long trip back to Tokyo in the same day (sunset was at 5pm, it turned dark and cold pretty quickly) so I booked a little place a few metro stops from the mountain. This place is amazing! Dinner was a wide variety of local delights and was well worth every penny. The chef was so hospitable! Despite the clear language barrier (nothing a little google translate couldn’t fix!) I enjoyed the entire experience! I then made use of the private onsen- a perfect way to end the night. We had a fantastic stay at Arasawaya Inn! The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. It was perfect after a long day of hiking - we felt so refreshed and relaxed. Dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious and full of local delicacies. Other locals having dinner at the same time were also very welcoming to us which we were very touched by. The service at the Ryokan was excellent. In spite of our mutual inability to understand each others languages we managed to communicate well using our phones and simple gestures. The level of care and attention to detail was brilliant. Whatever you do, try their cuisine - it too displays a high regard for flavor, preparation and texture.
