So confused about what went wrong. Had a very good email exchange with Yuki before coming, was clear about what I wanted: going from my brown/redish hair to a very blond balayage. He told me that it was possible but with warmer tones than on the picture which was fine for me. 4 hours later and I am basically slightly lighter brown. Not blond at all. Also the highlights on my bangs looks streaky. I told him it looks super different from the picture and he kept saying it’s because it’s a warmer tone and that he already told me that. Huge misunderstanding apparently. To me warm blond is still blond not brown. To him apparently it’s this slightly lighter brown.
Then when I repeated that I wanted my hair lighter he said that more bleach would ruin my hair. So did he take the decision to not go blond like I wanted because of that? Without consulting me first? And of course I know that bleach damages hair… I’m just so confused about the whole experience since all the communication seemed clear initially. I just felt gaslit in the end.
Paying 37k and waiting so long for a difference so subtle that I can barely notice it (except for the steaks on the bangs) was so disappointing.
I don’t think this is a bad place it’s just not for those who want balayage (but then what about all the pictures I saw of the other clients and all the reviews praising the good communication? I’m just so confused…) and you need to be mega clear although I don’t know how I could have been clearer since I had a reference picture.
Also I asked for layers styled like a very bouncy blowout. He used a curling iron on 2 pieces of hair without applying any heat protector (?!!) then seemed to abandon and picked back the round brush. In the end my hair was sleek and basically straight, again nothing like the picture. So is it because he can’t do it or is it because I had already told him I was not happy with the result?
Over all my impression is that he couldn’t do what I asked for neither in terms of style nor color, but instead of saying it clearly he talked about slight differences that translated into actually a totally different look. I wish the communication has been more...
Read moreYuki is absolutely incredible ! I am always fearful of getting a haircut in a new country, but Yuki was fantastic. I wanted a new haircut but wasn't quite sure what I was looking for, and so Yuki spent a lot of time going through different haircut images with me to understand what I liked about them and what I didn't like about them. We spent at least 15 minutes on this so he knew by the end of it exactly what I would be satisfied with. His attention to detail and experience is one of the best I've ever had: I'll definitely go again when I come back to Tokyo. As a European, it definitely helped that he is fluent in English and has a lot of experience with working in Europe (both...
