I don't like to leave reviews, especially bad ones, but I really don't want what happened to me to happen to anyone else.
I went here for my first time ever to try a Bleach Coloring and Air Wave Perm and explained this to them and my nervousness about getting the right color, hair damage, etc. I should have taken this as a red flag after getting a feeling like they really didn't care. I asked for highlights and a Balayage, I even showed them several examples of what I was looking for - see the photos for what I got instead 😱
The stylist literally just took a brush and slapped bleach on the bottom half of my hair and then went to help another customer. After washing it out I asked if this was the final color. She said "It is your color because you are Asian I cannot get colour you wanted for your hair, that is European color you wanted". I am half Italian, half Japanese by the way, which I told her when she asked at the beginning.
I feel like she just didn't want to fix it and would even go so far as saying she did it so bad on purpose. How can you do such a bad job and not want to fix it? The owner and manager of the store, who I originally booked the appointment with online, was there as well. He was with another customer when I arrived. He was the only other stylist in the salon and witnessed it all. He showed zero interest the whole time. I was expecting more passion and integrity from him.
I was okay with being with this other stylist at first because when she introduced herself I recognized her name from other Google reviews on here saying she was so nice and good. That is not at all what I experienced.
Lastly, the photos you see are the final result, the day after my appointment, I did not wash my hair or anything and this is WITH a 2 hour Air Wave Perm (for those who don't know, it gives you waves/curls that are supposed to last anywhere from 4-6 months). It didn't even last a day, so I exposed myself to at least 4 more harsh chemicals and wasted hundreds of dollars.
$374 dollars later,
it was so bad I had to go pay another salon, another $300 to fix it the next day.
Save yourself the disappointment and embarrassment and look for a blonde specialist if you're a brunette and looking to get your hair dyed in Japan.
Really sad when you go in nice and excited about their work and get taken...
Read moreIncredibly happy with my hair cut by Anju! I was visiting Tokyo and wanted a hair cut and decided to give this hair salon a try after reading all the positive reviews. I booked an appointment online and found a spot the very next morning with Anju. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (previous hair length was to my mid back and I wanted to shorten it to my shoulders) and she delivered! She even asked if I plan to tie my hair up often, assumingly so that she could leave certain parts longer. As a foreigner, the English speaking staff at the salon were easy to communicate with and I was more than happy with the service. They really try to take care of you with drinks, snacks, magazines and a relaxing shampooo!
One thing that made me confused was that the website said there would be a 2,200 yen charge as the “owner nomination fee” since it would be my first time at the salon. This almost deterred me from booking the appointment. However, the extra charge never came up on...
Read moreThe salon is located in a very charming part of Shinjuku and it had really nice interiors to match that. I had my first ever hair appointment in Japan with Kaori-san. I indicated in my booking that I am an English speaker and all the staff that attended to me spoke good English too. We first discussed what I wanted to do with my hair and how I usually wear it. I liked how they showed me the bill before starting the service (no surprises here!). Towards the end, she gave tips on how to condition and style my hair. They had iPad/tablets if ever you need entertainment and the coffee they served was good too.
Overall, I had a really pleasant experience here and I will be returning in a...
