NEVER AGAIN, PATAGONIA.
I waited a week to write my review, to give me time to think about how my experience was. Still feel the same. Here's my review:
I had heard and read amazing things about Patagonia's products and amazing customer service as well as their supposed commitment to stand by the quality of their products. So when my wife bought me a gift from her trip to Japan, I was ecstatic to own a small Patagonia bag, which I used to store my cables and electronics for my travels. Unfortunately, after a few years, the polyurethane coating on the bag started flaking off, and continued to flake off each time I used it. I thought to myself, no worries, I've read that Patagonia has an amazing repair/replacement policy so the next time I go to Japan, I'll bring it to the store and get it sorted.
From the moment I spoke to someone in the store in Tokyo, all I got was a sense of unfriendliness, unhelpfulness and overall ridiculously bad service. The first old grumpy guy just said we don't repair this, and proceeded to continue with whatever he was doing, no offer to help in any other way. I had to ask him again, and he called upon a 'specialist' to speak with me. Also, the same answer, with some added defensiveness: "oh this happens to other brands too". Dude, I don't care about other brands, I'm just here to see what you can do about a bag I love. When I told him that I read that Patagonia has a replacement policy for items that couldn't be repaired, he said, "so if you know our policy, what do you want?". Dude - what the heck kind of question is that? I said want to replace my bag. He said ok, he could replace it with a credit of the bags value, and I said sure. He looked up the bags value and it seemed to be suspiciously low, approximately 1200 Yen. At the point, after checking out the equivalent bags (which seemed to be more badly made now), I decided to give up and took my beloved, flaking bag home.
All this while, interacting with them was this huge exercise in me trying my best to be nice and pleasant with them while having this cold attitude reflected back at me. I am truly, truly disappointed in this brand. This experience just sealed the deal that Patagonia doesn't walk the talk, not in this neck of the...

Read moreBought a black belt bag in this store around 16-17pm maybe. The female employee who helped us checked out was not professional and not polite at all, she said thank you to people in other line but not us who she currently servicing for?! Not helpful when checking out, she knew we are foreigners but when the machine is shown in Japanese we have to figure out what’s the next step by our own. I didn’t expect to have this kind of bad experience in Japan at all. Really DISAPPOINTED! Please be aware that your attitude and behave represents the brand image and Japan, this is super unprofessional. I have been in Japan more than 3 times. This...
