*If you're going to make the custom shirt, keep in mind you need to wait an hour after submitting your design for the shirt to be made so do it first then go explore the rest of the center and the other stores on this floor.
Does have a huge selection of Pokemon plushies, but it's virtually the same as the other Pokemon Centers. There is a really cool Pikachu passport cover you can buy near the shelves close to the cash registers. After walking around Japan so much, my passport started to bend from being in my pocket and this has helped save it from wear and tear. Also has convenient pockets to hold Shinkansen tickets so you don't lose them like I did my first time around. There is a table in the middle of the store with a staff member - go up to them with whatever Pokemon's merch you are looking for and they can search and let you exactly what they sell featuring that Pokemon. Was extremely helpful!
Main reason I came here was for the custom shirt. Thought it was pretty expensive at first for ~4300 yen, but with the great conversion rate, getting a custom, unique Pokemon shirt for $28 actually sounded great on second thought. I'm fairly sure if you tried to get it made on a third party site, you probably would pay the same. The design kiosk is really cool, but I was mostly interested in making a team of my favorite 6 Pokemon. You can do that with one of the templates but they unfortunately gray out some of the generations. It would not let me choose any Gen 7 Pokemon, so no Primarina, nor any Gen 8 Pokemon, so no Galarian Moltres. I lamented to the staff and they seemed let down too, but I told them it was fine because it gave me a reason to come back in the future, and that made them pretty happy haha. I chose the black shirt with extra stamps like stars added to it. The design looked okay on the kiosk screen, but the colors actually popped our really well on the actual shirt. They even give you a special bag to keep the shirt in. Easily my favorite shirt I bought my entire trip, highly recommend everyone...
Read moreHad an unbelievably rude staff member in charge of the queue. We were in line and my 7 year old son remembered we were going to get pokemon cards later so he said "we need sleeves!" he slipped under the ropes and went to grab one pack of sleeves which was literally right next to us in the line. And this child hating staff member rushes over and says no no you can't rejoin the queue and points at his sign, this time I'll give you special permission. Fine. Even though you could tell this staff member was wanting confrontation the way he was scanning people in line. I daresay he was hating on foreigners. Moments later my son didn't want the plushie in the basket anymore, so I told him "well you better put it back where to found it then" so he went to put it back, but this psychotic staff member rushes over again to say no no he can't leave and I said no he's not getting anything, he's just putting something back, to which the staff said "OK back ok." Then when my son came back he rushes over again and goes no no he can't rejoin you in line. Excuse me? I came alone with my son did he expect me to just leave him outside of the line by himself?? We gained or got no advantage from returning an item, my son didn't grab anything new to add to the basket. In fact we were doing the staff a favour, instead of asking someone to put it back for us at the checkout. This left a pretty bad impression on what was meant to be a fun trip to the pokemon centre...
