During my recent trip to Tokyo, I stumbled upon Shogun Burger in Shibuya, and it turned out to be one of the best food decisions I made. Nestled in a trendy, compact space just a short walk from Shibuya Station, this place serves up some seriously high-quality burgers with a Japanese twist.
I ordered the Wagyu Cheeseburger, and it was phenomenal. The patty was juicy, tender, and full of rich umami flavor — you could tell it was premium Japanese Wagyu. The cheese was melted perfectly, and the house-made Shogun sauce added a tangy-sweet punch that tied everything together. The brioche bun was soft but held up well without getting soggy. It’s rare to find a burger that hits every mark, but this one did.
The fries were also great — crispy and well-seasoned. I paired the meal with a Japanese craft beer they had on tap, which complemented the burger beautifully.
Service was quick and friendly despite how busy it was. The staff spoke enough English to help with the menu and made me feel welcome. Prices were a bit higher than a typical fast food joint, but completely justified by the quality of ingredients and the care in preparation.
Overall, Shogun Burger is a must-visit if you're a burger lover looking for something uniquely Japanese yet universally satisfying. I’ll definitely return next time...
Read moreGreat burger in the middle of Shinjuku near Tokyu Hands. 3 of us got 3 different burgers and everyone loved it. The burgers came hot straight off the flat top grill with freshly made fries. The burger was juicy and very tasty. The only "problem" I had was that it was so juicy that my burger started falling apart which was fine with me. I will be stopping here again on our next trip through Shinjuku!
Update as of 12/2024: Can't go wrong with a burger...made from japanese wagyu. This is my third time at this location over the years but first Yelp review. It's a little shop along the street heading up along the row of different stores in Shibuya. Walk up the stairs and put in your order at the computer near the front entrance. Once ordered, find a seat and wait as you smell the burgers being cooked. The burger came out perfectly cooked. You can definitely taste the difference between a wagyu beef burger and a normal burger. And the price...same as you'd pay at a national burger establishment. Stop by and try...
Read moreThere is a bit of a queue so don’t go during a lunch rush. Go at your own leisure, and if you don’t catch the calmer hours then be sure to come back around because the burgers are incredible. The chefs are fun and admirable, able to strike up conversation even if there is a language barrier. The food they make is so delicious, with the juicy wagyu and select sauces of the burgers, the first bite is unforgettable.
The atmosphere is good, it reminds me a bit of Burgerfi back home. The wood of the tables reminds me of traditional Japanese eating, combined with a modern diner type feel.
They had melon Fanta on tap, in the machine where you can get free refills, so I was hooked. The burgers are delicious, and the fries are good too. You have a choice of mentaiko, basil, or chili meat sauce for fry dipping, and I always went for mentaiko. The bar has condiments such as ketchup and mustard as well.
I came back a second time and the burgers were even better, it was later at night when there was no line. I was not...
