The Imperial Hotel Plaza — Local services in Tokyo

It is known for its opulence, but the Imperial Hotel just doesn't have the same je n'ais se quoi as the Palace Hotel or Gajoen. It also looks and feels its (almost) 100 years of age. Definitely worth a visit to the plaza though. You don't have to be a guest of the hotel to use the plaza or its shops and restaurants. Old style charm. Might need some major upgrade. The soul of the hotel is missing. Could not be better located. Standard rooms are small compared to international standards. There are 4 breakfast restaurans! In the basement one local Japanese style On the ground floor the Diner an American style. On the first floor an French still. Finally on the last (seventeenth) floor an international and Japanese buffet. It is usual to find a long queue going to the last floor restaurant. Going there before eight o'clock in the morning...

Historical charm with modern convenience. My wife made the booking for my birthday and was an amazing experience. The staff were wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Even the waiter who delivered the late night room service wished me a happy birthday. Being covid, there were probably some vacancies and the receptionist offered us a free upgrade which was a nice touch. The room was very big especially for Tokyo and given the location.
