Stayed 3 nights at the Daiwa Roynet Shimabashi property. To be honest, i didn't have much expectation as it was not a brand i am familiar and from reading the forum the lack of room/space was one of the biggest concern. I do agree that room is small, almost feels like staying at an inside statement of a cruise ship minus the sofa/living room space. Barely able to walk around the bed as the room is really cramp. But....the hotel delivers on service, amenities, and location. ||||From check in to check out, the service is top notch. The staff can all converse in English enough to be of assistance. I found them very helpful, sincere, and willing to help. ||||There are whole bunch of self-service amenities in the lobby from toothbrush, soaking bath salt, single pour over coffee, to pretty much everything you will need incase you forgot to bring them with you. ||||The location is great. Landed in Haneda and took Keikyu line to Shimabashi as it has been suggested. There are lots of restaurants and eateries near the subway station which is about 5 mins walk from the hotel. If you are having trouble finding the hotel and need to ask someone, ask them which way to Dai-Ichi hotel which is on the other side of the street to Daiwa Roynet. ||||There's a Ichiran Ramen that closes at 6am incase your body keep you awake and you need to get some early am ramen. In the subway, there's also a great udon place which fills up as soon as it opens at 7am. We ate a couple of times at the sushizanmai which was pretty good around $20-$30 for a combination plate. ||||You are near Ginza. We walked to Tsukiji market which took around 20-30 mins. All in all, i think Shimbashi area is a great base for your travel around Tokyo. I highly recommend the location...
Read moreThe worst hotel we stayed at in Japan. This hotel is so grossly terrible that I can only believe that the positive reviews are actually fake. The rooms aren’t spacious leave little space for bags.
We got a non-smoking room. As we came off the elevator the hallway smelled of cigars, a thick and humid smell of cigar smoke coming from the rooms in the hall. We entered our room and was hit again with a strong stench of cigarette smoke. It was pretty unbearable so I opened the window and left for several hours hoping that it would air out but returned to the same smell that we left with. I hope this smell comes off of our clothes.
The bed is amongst the most uncomfortable I’ve slept in. The pillows are thin and the mattress must be 5” thick. I woke up this morning with an aching back and body and couldn’t get a good night’s rest between the terrible mattress, pillow, and smell of cigarette smoke that won’t come off this pillow. Normally you get used to smells after a period but this smell is something else.
The room may be clean but it feels real dirty. Grease stains on the headboard, air filters on the vents that are caked with dust, and the smoke. I smoked for 10 years and if this is what I smelled like for that decade of smoking, I’ll never go back.
I am writing this review from this bed and can’t wait to check out and leave running to...
Read moreStarting with the positives, the location of the hotel is great, very close to the station, and it is clean. Unfortunately, we had some major issues staying there. ||We booked a room for three people. When we got there, tired and exhausted, after a long flight we discovered that the room we were given contained one double bed with a standard width of about 137cm. It was completely unsuitable to accommodate 3 people!!! When we complained we were told that our only option was to pay extra for a bigger room. Their own website states that the room we were given is only suitable for two people so I can only conclude that this was deliberate to obtain more money from us; very dishonest.||The room is also cleaned only every third day but we never saw any room service despite...
