This perennial favorite of many Tokyo natives was originally born in the famous Tsukiji fish market, and has now expanded with locations all over Tokyo. My friend, his wife, and my partner and I went here one evening after enjoying an "Oktoberfest" in July Hibiya park. The thing I love about sushi zanmai is that the prices are reasonable, but the quality of the fish is excellent - and with convenient locations all over the city, you can find a location in all the major neighborhoods. They say the original location in Tsukiji is a must try, but like I said the quality is consistent throughout all their locations. We sat at the counter, though table service is also an option here. The counter service was great; the sushi chefs behind the counter made conversation with us, and were overall quite fun to talk to and to watch.
The sushi was high-quality, with decent portions of fish, and fantastic rice. We ordered a variety of nigiri and maki rolls; the Chyuu-Toro is of course excellent, while the scallops and maguro were also very impressive.

The three of us ordered a lot and the table was loaded with plates that nobody came around to pick up for the entire meal (or to check if we wanted more drinks or anything else).
