Estética Face & Hair — Local services in Mexico City

I have been to about all of the highly rated salons in CDMX, and normally don't go twice. This is mostly due to a mediocre experience almost always as one thing or another puts me off. This salon just showed up on my radar recently with few, but excellent reviews. And now, I've found my "will be back" place at Estética Face & Hair. I contacted the salon through Yelp and within a few minutes I heard back from Ana, the Owner. I provided a brief description of what I wanted and I had an appointment scheduled for the next morning. Voila!

When I arrived I was greeted by Ana and Violeta, the sweet and friendly salon mascot. Since moving to Mexico City I changed my hair from a very Texas blonde to a brunette, my natural color. But I (and my husband) miss my blond locks so I decided to get back to that on a brief solo visit to the City. This wasn't going to be an easy feet so I needed a color pro or I knew I might end up with a head full of who knows what color and in what condition!

When I explained in detail to Ana what I wanted to accomplish, she relayed in Spanish to Veronica, the stylist charged with my current hair project. Veronica was wonderful. I could tell by the tools of her trade she was a pro. As a gentleman left the salon he leaned over to me and said "you're in good hands". I told him that I felt very confident. Veronica proceeded to foil and color with close attention to detail. She put on the fishing touches at the rinse bowl and led me back to the mirror for the unveiling. With wet hair it's hard to tell the final color, but it looked agreeable and we proceeded to the cut. I opted for lob since the back of my hair has been growing at an exponential rate and it seemed unbalanced to me. The lob was the perfect choice to turn the tide.

With the cut and blowout complete I looked in the mirror and felt pure happiness. I loved the color. Veronica did indeed have a good eye and she put it to work on my hair. It was soft and bouncy, and just felt great. Now, it wasn't as platinum as I have been in the past, but that kind of blonde comes over time. Next time, we agreed, we will go even lighter as we work our way back to super-blonde. Today I am back to Vancouver to see my husband. I know he will appreciate my new doo, and Veronica's great work.

I will be back in Mexico City in June. And I will be back to see Veronica, Ana, and Violeta. If you are in the City and need a great colorist to trust, you should see Veronica too!

PRO TIPS: The salon shares space with a barber, Barbaria Hippodromo, so don't be confused by an establishment across the street with a similar name as Estética Face and Hair. Also, bring cash. My complete hair day was about $2100...

Exceptional service and a wonderful men's cut! I usually go for a men's pompadour, which most stylists struggle to shape given my wavy hair, but they have done an amazing job time and again. I drive from polanco just to see Annie or Vero. Both top notch stylists. And very sweet. I think their English might be limited (I speak to them in Spanish), but with a few google images...
