Stay away. This is a tourist trap. Everytime you walk by you will be harassed by the waiters to sit down. You should ignore them. We were eventually convinced to sit down.
We had vegetable soup, spaghetti in tomato sauce and vegetable tagine.
The soup was under seasoned and watered down. They clearly don't store it correctly as it had started to go off when we tried to eat it at night. Couldn't stomach more than a couple of spoonfuls.
The pasta was served with ketchup instead of tomato sauce and it was the most discusting dish I've ever tasted. The pasta seemed to be cooked in bulk for the day as it was all stuck together and had a mushy, porrige-like consistency. After tasting the soup we joked "how can you mess up pasta with tomato sauce". We were shocked at the restaurants success at messing it up.
The tagine was dry and covered in a gooey layer of what I can only assume was the original sauce. The tagine seems to be made in bulk and scooped onto the dish before being reheated. The dish tasted discusting but it was my favourite of all the disaster dishes we were served.
Once we tried all the food and realised we cannot have anything we politely asked the owner if we could just pay for the bread and drinks. The owner was polite and allowed us to leave without paying anything despite our insisting. He did not seem surprised which makes me think that the place makes its money off touridts too scared to complain. We were pleasantly surprised as we had expected him to argue.
Should be said that a lot of local guides seem to take people to this restaurant. I imagine they get paid...
Read moreRestaurant Morisco, located in the main area of Chefchaouen, has certain advantages and disadvantages. One of its notable pros is its central location, making it easily accessible for visitors.
However, several cons should be considered. The food at Restaurant Morisco is described as basic, lacking in variety and creativity. Similarly, the services provided are also basic, without any standout features or exceptional service. The prices, considering the quality of the food, are considered expensive by some patrons.
Additionally, it is important to note that Restaurant Morisco is quite touristy, which can impact the authenticity and overall dining experience.
In summary, while the location may be convenient, Restaurant Morisco falls short in terms of the quality of its food, services, and value for money. It is worth exploring other dining options in Chefchaouen for a more satisfying...
Read moreAmerican Tourists, do not stop here. One of the servers is a scammer. He was outside with a menu asked if I wanted to eat there. I said no and he offered wine to go for the airbnb. Me (being way to gullible) sat down and gave him money for wine. I saw him say goodbye to the other waiters and run away. We realized he stole the money. So we waited outside until he returned to the restaurant where we confronted him (I tripped over the table and broke the glasses) and he gave the money back. What a jerk. The restaurant should ban him as he is giving Chefchauoun a poor reputation. Will share with all American friends...
