Waffel — Local services in Rotterdam

Waffel is a new project from Bakkit, that offers sweet and savoury waffles, alongside coffee and matcha! Located right near Beurs, it’s almost always busy on the weekends - but be patient, the waffles are worth the wait. The place is takeaway/to-go only with only one counter (if you’re lucky, you might have a chance to eat your waffle on the spot), as it’s super tiny. I tried a waffle with blue cheese and pear - it was very delicious! As for a drink, I went for a pistachio matcha latte - which I thought was quite pricy (€6,40 for a matcha drink is a lot). They add real pistachio pasta, though, not syrup, so I believe that’s their reasoning for such a price - they might even make it themselves, as they have it in the desserts, too, but I’m not sure😅 In addition, the place offers a variety of sweet waffles with Dubai chocolate, Nutella, white chocolate matcha and tompouce. Ordered the waffle w/ white chocolate & matcha.

I very much enjoyed it. The waffle was cold (which I did not like) but still fresh and crispy (which I did like). The waffle itself was not too sweet. They may have used croissant dough - instead of regular waffle dough. I very much liked the matcha mousse. Matcha can be quite bitter, but this one was not.

My friend ordered the waffle w/ tuna melt. She did not like it very much. The waffle was freshly prepared. Waiting time was approx. 10 min. They added cheese to the dough and then blobs of tuna on top.

My friend also ordered the waffle w/ Dubai chocolate. She liked it better than the waffle w/ tuna melt. She did say the waffle was very rich and creamy. And, she struggled with finishing it.

Bedankt voor jullie reactie, al vinden wij die eerlijk gezegd eerder een poging om jullie eigen straatje schoon te vegen dan een oprechte poging tot het oplossen van de situatie.

Er is géén pistache genoemd bij het drankje? Vreemd, want dat was precies het eerste wat duidelijk benoemd werd — pistache is een favoriet. En ja, we hebben ook duidelijk gezegd dat er geen cafeïne in mocht zitten. Wat we vervolgens kregen had niets met pistache te maken, en dat werd zonder uitleg of communicatie overhandigd. Dat jullie beweren iets aangeboden te hebben klopt simpelweg niet. Als dat wel was gebeurd, hadden we het aangenomen. Punt.

Dat de eigenaresse zogenaamd niet aanwezig was, terwijl we nota bene met haar spraken, maakt het des te verwarrender. We herkennen haar van de foto’s op jullie eigen social media. Dus: of er is bewust gelogen, of jullie personeel weet niet wie de eigenaresse is. Beide opties zijn zorgwekkend.

We snappen dat een zaak beleid heeft, maar hoe dat beleid wordt overgebracht naar klanten maakt het verschil. In ons geval voelde dat onverschillig en ongemakkelijk. De “sorry :)” met een glimlach was de spreekwoordelijke druppel.

Wat ons betreft was dit inderdaad onze eerste en laatste keer. Een review is bedoeld om ervaringen te delen — en dat hebben we gedaan. In plaats van klanten serieus te nemen, worden ze nu indirect beschuldigd van onbegrip of onjuistheid. Dat is geen klantenservice.

Met alle respect: als dit voor jullie “een miscommunicatie” was, dan zouden jullie iets aan de communicatie moeten doen — niet de schuld leggen...
