Good food, good ambience but very disappointed with the service quality.
I used to go to Bazar Amsterdam quite a lot but ever since after Covid, they closed it down. So I thought of visiting Bazar Rotterdam and I left with mixed feelings.
The food itself tastes really nice. Huge portions for very affordable prices.
As I visited in the afternoon, I had a sandwich (Lawash) and Sigara Boregi (starter) along with an Orange juice and Mint Tea at the end.
The service staff left a lot to be desired. I was met by a very rude and unprofessional young male staff at the entrance. He was very blunt and just pointed a table to me. Once at the table it took a good 15 mins for someone to notice that I've not placed my order. Even though it wasn't busy at all (I arrived at mid-afternoon 15.45ish on a Sunday).
It felt most of the service staff have a gathering place near the bar counter. They all hangout there and talk to each other as if it's a party. There is no sense of responsibility towards guests. Even while walking around, most staff look and then almost ignore. So it's very disappointing to receive this kind of service.
Also there were a few staff sipping on cola while they were carrying out their job. If the staff need break time, there must be proper break areas and facilities for them to take a break! But I've never seen in any restaurant any staff drinking by the bar counter while serving! In hospitality it's a big NO!
There was only one women service staff who was genuinely interested and she was the one going to each table and asking around. I wonder what the others are doing? Thanks to her for saving the day!
Please hire proper service personnel or provide the current ones good training in F&B service. Otherwise the quality will keep going down, which is a real shame for such an iconic restaurant.
Will I visit again? Mostly not Food taste: 4/5 Food quantity: 5/5 Service: 2/5 Ambience:...
Read moreI decided to visit the restaurant for lunch by myself. However, the treatment I encountered at the door was far different than what I had expected. As soon as I stepped inside, they told me to wait outside, saying "It's lunchtime." At first, I thought this might be a misunderstanding, so I took a glance inside. I was astonished at the sight; the restaurant was nearly empty!
I tried to explain the situation, mentioning that I would only occupy a table for one. However, the response I received left me stunned. They said, "We cannot let our tables be occupied by just one person." This was not only unprofessional but also extremely disrespectful. Ignoring the fundamental principle of hospitality in restaurant management like this is unacceptable.
I have visited many restaurants in my life and tried cuisines from different cultures; however, I have never encountered such discrimination and disrespect. In an industry where customer satisfaction and hospitality should be prioritized, this experience deeply disappointed me.
In short, I believe this restaurant does not value its customers and sees people merely as numbers. It's unacceptable for them to consider you a second-class customer, especially when you're alone. Therefore, I advise those considering visiting this restaurant to take my negative experience into account. My greatest wish is for you to enjoy your meal in a place where values like humanity, respect, and customer satisfaction...
Read moreAlways a good atmosphere and good food.
Make sure to make reservations, as this place is always busy. The decor is mediterranean inspired and sets the mood. All serving plates are a great touch to the dishes. Great for groups and a good place for casual diners.
Irfan's Starter This is my all time favourite. I usually go to the Amsterdam venue, and it never fails. All dips are very flavourful, the Sigara Böregi could have been fried a bit longer, but still tasted good. We got just 3 pieces of bread to dip. But you can always ask for more.
El Couscous Fish It was the first time I have ordered this dish. The, Kebab, Tuna and Prawns were over cooked and very very dry. Thus not so tasty. Yet the Couscous was good. I am not sure if it is always like this, but for now I would not recommend it.
Cheesecake with Nuts and Dates Oh My Gosh! This is the reason I go to the Bazar! Literally my favourite desert (next to Italian Tiramisu). This amazing cake is no where else to be found. It is just a piece of heaven. For the record, I am NOT a cheesecake lover at all. However, the flavour of this Cheesecake is very mild and just melts away. Combination of Nuts and Dates is just perfect! I totally forgot to make a picture, that's how distracted I was =D. Definitely a must have!!
Overal Service The service is oke, it did not feel personal. But, I understand when it's busy. Staff was...
