Cannibale Royale Westblaak — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Never knew that the old location of Brasilbinkie had been taken over by such a great restaurant with an amazing selection of carnivorous dishes. My friends and I had heard about it and decided we had to try it.

We were kindly welcomed at the reception, and after giving our reservation details we were swiftly seated. The service staff was friendly, youthful, and well put together. They first offered us drinks from their fine selection, ranging from dark and pale ales to ginger beer and sodas. After that, we placed our appetizer and main course orders.

One friend ordered the bittergarnituur with mustard, followed by beef ribs with chimichurri and mac and cheese on the side.

Another friend went for the chicken wings as a starter, then also had the beef ribs with chimichurri, with regular fries as his side.

I ordered the bread with garlic butter to start, and then their renowned beef ribs with chimichurri, paired with sweet potato fries.

The appetizers were appropriately sized and easy to share around the table. All were tasty and served at a good temperature. The standout of the round was the chicken wings—something I’ll definitely order next time.

The beef ribs were the highlight. Everyone at the table was raving about how tender the meat was, practically falling apart with little resistance to the knives. The chimichurri complemented it perfectly.

Because of the generous portion sizes, we asked for containers to take some of the mains home, and the staff happily obliged.

All in all, a great experience that I’ll happily...

The food it's good, very flavourfull and ok with quantities which I enjoyed a lot. The steak tartare was a very nice surprise (though I recommend them to make it a bit spicy 🔥), very lovely spiced and the taste really cool.

The waitress were very kind and attentive with us. In general, if you don't mind the issues I explain below and the price it is a very recommended place.

Here are the things I didn't liked, mainly user experience related: The main issue is that first we were sited at the bar which we accepted with a promise to be placed to a table once someone leaves. The main issue is that people that arrived after us were placed to tables before us...

After we've been sitted at the table we had to wait almost 40 min between the starters and the main dish even though everything was ordered at the same time, when we were sited at the bar. It looks like they were to the farm to get the ribs and cook them in the same moment that we order them... At that point I was not even hungry anymore and very pissed of, so much that I can't give my opinion on the dessert as I preferred to have the dessert in other...

Update: LOL they're SO disorganized that they even responded to my review with something that has nothing to do with me. He's talking about a completely different group of people that was also pissed. Everyone near the entrance was upset and this guy can't tell which review is who LOL. All evening it was a MESS. Simple solution: instead of telling people "just wait a bit" and leave us hanging for an hour thinking we'll get seated, why not just say "we don't have tables today, return a different day"? EASY. Also, I eventually ended up going to a different caninale Royale location in amsterdam on a different day, and it was amazing. The Rotterdam location has a worse kitchen situation, small building, Noisy outdoor seating. They shouldn't even have the name cannibale Royale because it's SO INFERIOR.
