Alpine Luxury Tours — Local services in South Island

We went on the Private Milford Sound day trip and the Middle Earth Waterfalls Heli-Hike with Alpine Luxury Tours and they were both fantastic!

Starting with the Milford Sound tour, we were picked up promptly from our hotel and had a few stops along the way to Milford Sound for coffee, pictures, bathroom breaks, etc. Our guide, Rob, was super knowledgeable about the stops we made and gave us plenty of time to look around and do what we needed to do. Even though we went on a supremely rainy day at Milford, that just meant we saw even more waterfalls! Since we went in May, there were much fewer people on our boat so we were still able to enjoy the tour with the rain and see everything possible! We opted to drive back from Milford and were back at a pretty reasonable time considering how far of a drive it is back to Queenstown! Great day and the packed lunch provided was excellent.

The Middle Earth Waterfalls Heli-Hike was the absolute best afternoon we had in our 3 weeks in New Zealand! Dani our guide let our Heli pilot know that we were interested in seeing any wildlife in the area so he spent extra time finding and circling back so we could get great views of the local chamois, white tail, and fallow deer on the mountains outside of Queenstown! The hike to the waterfalls was extremely chill and suitable for anyone. The walk up to the base of the waterfalls and glacier is amazing and worth the trip! It’s so peaceful and captivating the entire time you’re in the valley! James (heli pilot) took us for some excellent up close views of the glacier on our way out and then parked us on the most picturesque mountain for some sunshine and our post-hike picnic. The views overlooked Glenorchy and Dart river where you see some great LoTR shots of Isengard while enjoying a packed lunch and champagne! Truly amazing experience for an afternoon in Queenstown!

Alpine was extremely communicative the entire time from booking to going on each activity! Truly appreciate the promptness of responses to our inquiries and information ahead of time! Would highly recommend for small or large groups coming to NZ who want unique and tailored...

We initially made the booking through Viator. This company Alpine Adventures has the worst communication. Beware. We booked a Milford-sound and Helicopter ride for today - $1460 per person. We arrived in Queenstown and text Lee that we've arrived with the Hotel details. It was strange to not receive a confirmation text back. I called Lee the day before and ask him what the arrangement is. No detail - I then ask will we received a call between 7am and 7:30am. He mentioned they (not saying who they are) will call at that time to confirm. we woke up at 6:30am awaiting a call - nothing. I called Lee - just got his answering machine. Then called their office again an answering machine Mark. Still no call. We then asked our Hotel concierge who had nothing to to with booking to follow-up. After a few calls we discover that day is actually done by Heliworks based in Queenstown. The helicopter trip normally leaves at 9am. with an apparent weather call 8am. We never received a call. Alpine Luxury Tours arranged various tour operators to plan two days worth of experiences for my family whilst staying in Queenstown. I organised this all from Australia before we left because I was time poor and didn’t want to communicate with various operators, bookings etc - instead opting for a one stop shop whereby Alpine Luxury Tours arranged everything for us. Lee was very helpful, offering suggestions in his emails as to what would work for our family. Our guides both days were full of local knowledge and suggestions as we toured Milford Sound, Glacier Landing, and Middle Earth. We also loved the ebike tour departing from Arrowtown, Shotover Jet, and lunch and private tastings and wineries.

I would recommend Alpine Luxury Tours to people who are chasing a stress free holiday without the time to reply to dozens of emails from various tour operators.
