I absolutely had to stop in because I was craving the Salmon & Herb Hush Cake. This café sits along the road with a lineup of deli-style meals and a menu you’d expect from a full-on restaurant. I used to walk past it all the time, but the other day when I ordered a flat white, I spotted the Salmon & Herb Hush Cake in the cabinet and couldn’t stop thinking about it. What really stood out to me was how friendly and genuine the staff were; just top-notch service that really leaves a good impression. I dropped in to get a takeaway coffee, a medium latte. There was a group of 4 before me getting takeaway also. I waited outside and saw the group leave with their order and a worker come out calling out a flat white to go. Not mine obviously. They had also started taking tables in well before closing time. I went in and stood being ignored, no one making coffee, until a male worker finally asked what I wanted. I told him medium latte and he pointed to the same small flat white and said that’s it. It quite obviously wasn’t. I said ‘the girl said that’s a flat white’. He insist again that it was my order. They obviously gave my coffee to someone else and couldn’t be bothered correcting their mistake. I didn’t have time by that stage to stand and argue so I left. I will not be going back!
