National Meteorological Museum of Korea — Local services in Seoul

I came without high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The museum has a history of over 100 years, and I was able to see a real cheugugi (a traditional Korean rain gauge from the Joseon Dynasty). It offers a great overview of the history of meteorology, and nearly all informational materials can be accessed through QR codes, leading to short 1-2 minute YouTube videos, which was very convenient.

I was also surprised to find trees here that serve as reference points for news reports on the timing of autumn foliage and spring blossoms.

If possible, I recommend booking a guided tour in advance. I had a great time exploring the beautifully designed small library, photo spots, and a collection of high-quality meteorological records dating back over a century.

무료주차 가능. 관람료 무료 큰 기대 없이 왔는데 역사가 100년이 넘었고, 조선시대의 측우기를 실물로 볼 수 있었어요. 기상학의 역사를 살펴볼수 있고 거의 모든 설명자료를 QR로 찍으면 1-2분짜리 유튜브 영상으로 볼수 있어서 좋았네요. 그리고 단풍이나 봄철 꽃이 피는 시기를 뉴스에서 알리는 기준점이 되는 나무를 직접 볼 수 있는 곳이라서 놀랐어요. *기왕이면 해설을 미리 예약하고 와서 듣는 게 좋습니다. 작지만 예쁘게 만들어진 도서관과 포토포인트, 그리고 100년 전부터 모은 양질의 자료들을 볼 수 있어서...
