내가 가장 좋아하는 카페 중 하나다. 커피가 매우 맛있고 분위기가 조용하다. 여기 다닌 게 십년이 넘었는데 한 번도 커피맛에 실망한 적이 없다. 그리고 손님들도 나직하게 대화를 나누곤 해서 만석일 때도 조용한 분위기가 유지된다. ‘나무 사이로’, ‘전광수커피하우스’와 함께 ‘서울 3대 커피’로 부르는 사람들도 있다. ‘전국 5대 짬뽕’이나 ‘서울 3대 빵집’ 같은 호칭에 혹해서 찾아가도 실제로는 별 거 없었던 적이 많았지만, 내가 가본 바로는 서울 3대 커피는 세 곳 모두 드립커피가 꾸준히 맛있었다. 특히 ‘커피스트’는 사장님이 가게에서 꼼꼼하게 관리해서인지 세 곳 중 가장 기복 없이 맛있다. 성곡미술관 앞에 있어서 전시회를 보고 들르기 좋고, 실내 여기저기에 책도 많이 꽂혀 있어서 한적할 때는 책을 읽으며 시간을 보내는 것도 좋다. 일조각 건물 1층에 있는데, 건물을 지을 때 지하에서 유적이 발견되었다고 한다. 그래서 1층 바닥의 일부가 유리로 되어서 지하의 유적을 볼 수 있게 되어 있다. 화장실에 갈 때 여기를 지나야 하는데, 괜찮은 볼거리이긴 하지만 고소공포증이 있는 사람은 유리를 건널 때 좀 무섭다고 한다.

성곡미술관 근처에 있는 커피 맛집입니다. 도토리 브라더스 맞은편에 있어요. 이 근처에는 맛집들이 참 많습니다. :) 데크에 야외테이블도 있어요. 저는 더워서 안에서 마셨지만, 봄가을에는 바깥 자리도 좋아요. 아이스 예가체프 7,000원 (디카페인) 아이스 브라질 6,500원 여기는 스페셜티 커피의 종류가 많습니다. 그런 면에서는 골라마시는 재미가 있는 곳입니다. 아기자기한 인테리어도 좋지만 개인적으로 만화책이 빽빽하게 들어찬 의자가 마음에 듭니다. ㅎㅎ 책장을 겸한 의자에는 여러 종류의 만화책이 있어요. 혼자 와서 커피 한 잔에 책을 보는 재미도 있는 곳입니다. 화장실은 카페와 통하는 문으로 나가면 바로 있습니다. 이 건물 지하에는 유적이 있습니다. 그래서 두터운 안전 유리를 깔아서 유적을 볼 수 있어요. 화장실에 가는 지하에 바로 유적이 있습니다. 아무 생각없이 나갔다가 아래를 보고 깜짝 놀랄 수 있어요. 공포증이 있는 제 친구는 차마 화장실을 못 가고 주저앉았답니다. :) 커피맛, 분위기, 화장실 청소상태, 서비스 다 마음에 드는 곳입니다.

The best venue for coffee in Gwanghwamun. It used to be my to-go-cafe when living in the hood over 10 years ago and I was glad the cafe survived such quick turn overs of Seoul cafe scenes when I recently moved back to Seoul this year. Try to visit aside typical after-lunch hour when it is crowded and you will have enjoy a great coffee in a relaxing and cozy...

Their coffee with fresh whipped cream was surprisingly delicious (i wouldn't normally order something like that, but a friend who showed me the cafe says it's a must!)
