My first time to South Korea and I was excited to visit this popular beauty store (I think). I wanted to know how one of their fragranced shampoo smelled like. Dumping one after a few uses isn’t a wise idea. The bottle & cap wasn’t sealed. I loosen the cap to do a quick sniff and closed it. Didn’t pull it out like a Barbarian etc. I always do this for fragrance shampoo no matter where I shop.
One of the female Korean girl, with a ‘Captain’ name tag rudely told me off that since I opened it, I have to BUY IT. I know the difference between a plastic sealed product and one that isn’t.
When I told her that we get to do this everywhere (including first world countries where product are more expensive), she still asked me to pay for it. She said no one else smells the shampoo. Do most people come here for that, I wonder? Does she always stand by the shampoo section, I wonder?
While I was first impressed with the korean skincare goods and its price in this store, I cannot believe how rude and uneducated this Korean girl is. Pure over reaction over logic & empathy. She told me we could have asked for permission but there is obviously no such written rules and there ain’t much staff around either! She took the shampoo bottle back to the storeroom like as if there is some sealing or sanitisation to perform (it looks exactly like a new one! My nose didn’t even touch the bottle!).
I asked to speak to the manager, she said she IS THE MANAGER.
Gosh, maybe the low prices here is the reflection of the hospitality. I rather pay x2/x3 elsewhere! Gave tourist a bad impression of local Korean girls so soon. Such bad temper hidden beneath all that nice ‘glowy...

Read moreI came by Olive Young in my 1-week business trip and felt disappointed about staff attitude here. I bought 3 boxes of collagen and done payment but later I came back to buy 1 more. At that time I found it run out of on shelf so I talked to a staff. Interestingly she said they did not have that item. Wow.... Then I brought this question to another staff. She said nothing but checking inventory and going to warehouse to take 1 more box and give...
