I went through the Padron process without any problems and very quickly, and I'm going to report my experience and give you tips and I hope it's like that for you too. Main Question: Do you need an appointment? NO, they say it is recommended but it is impossible to get it, looking for 3 days in a row on the website I couldn't find it, they don't answer the phone, the employees themselves know this and will assist you even without an appointment. Queue and estimate to complete the process: The place opens at 8:30 am but I recommend arriving before, I arrived 50 minutes early and managed to be number 12 in the queue, behind me there were around 100 people when the gate opened. When you arrive at the location, there will be some people in a queue (on the side of the building, exactly at this address on google maps) in front of a closed door, regardless of the process, stay in that queue, when the time comes an employee will come out and go asking each person what they are going to do and directing them to the indicated location, but most people go to Padron. Arriving early is a recommendation, but on the day I went it didn't seem necessary, because when I completed my procedure at 9:10 am, when I left the line had emptied and they were assisting anyone who arrived at the door. But I still recommend arriving early, taking into account the other comments here from other people, about there being a limit on service and things like that. So this tip boils down to: If you can, get there early, but if you can't or are passing by the place during business hours, try to do the process (the place is open until 1:30 pm but I would say that 1:00 pm is a limit safe) -- Required documentation: I recommend going to the website and checking the necessary documentation, but I will say in my case that: I have a rental contract in my name and I legally have a residence authorization letter: - Original Rental Contract (with your signature and that of the owner/real estate company): - 1 proof of rental payment (can be from the reservation, security deposit, etc.) - Original passport - Residence Authorization Letter: This document is not really necessary but it helped in the process because it already listed my NIE and things like that. PS: I took copies of everything only to be safe, but they didn't ask me, they took the copies themselves and scanned the documents, I hadn't taken proof of payment of the rent but they authorized me to send it to their email which was indicated at the time . It seems that they do not accept copies for security reasons, because they want to ensure that their copy reflects the original. PS II: The idea of documentation is about having your original identification document. It is a way of proving your residence in the city, the most common way is with a rental contract but there are variations depending on whether you are living with family and friends and that is what it is for. a different process to prove it, read more about it. -- General tips to make your experience better and ensure that everything goes as expected: - People there only speak Spanish, if you don't speak it that's fine, know the basics to express what you want to do OR take a translator on your cell phone - Be polite, wait your turn - When entering you will have to go through a metal detector, they will ask you to leave your cell phone and metal objects with you on a tray and pass your bag through an x-ray, be prepared for this and make things easier - After xray, they give you a number - Try to find out about the necessary documents, many people are angry for not being able to complete the process but they take what they want, who is wrong? -- Questions they might ask you - They will ask you what you are going to do (Padron if that’s the case) - If you want the Padron certificate when you complete the process, you will say yes, because it is the paper that proves that you completed the process, you can also issue it online if you lose it - Phone number, you can show it on the cell phone screen if it is easier - Level of education

This is the most ridiculous, lazziest system I have ever experienced, we had an appointment on friday and the lady told us that we took the wrong ticket and that we had to go back outside and wait in line, we came back on monday morning at 7:30 am 1 hour before it opens and the line is as you can see in the photo, this is horrible, you can't get an online appointment unless you pay a hefty fee to a lawyer, the certificado digital is useless because you cannot register yourself if you have been living in another town, the valencian bureaucratic system is a JOKE

Muy bien coordinados para el empadronamiento. Aplausos. We needed to get an updated padrón and I’d read the many reviews about the struggles with getting an appointment, people being stuck for hours in endless lines and discrepancies in what documentation would be needed. I wasn’t expecting much, but I have to report that our experience was FANTASTIC.

We went there at noon with no appointment and were greeted with a smile and instructions to go to the main door (as we had mistakenly gone to the side door which is for those with a cita) where again, we were greeted by a helpful employee who directed us to the reception desk where we met another pleasant employee who got us a number. There were 20 numbers ahead of us so we sat, checked our documents once more and much to our surprise, within 20 minutes we were called up.

The lady who helped us was so kind and very forgiving of our imperfect Spanish and within 15 minutes, we were heading out the door with our updated padrons in hand! Do your research on what is needed, have it organized and ready when you get to their desk so you can make it easy for them, smile, be polite and with a bit of luck, you can leave with what you need. In a sea of bad reviews, I can honestly say it was a surprisingly painless and actually a GREAT experience and wanted to give credit...

The inefficiency is appalling. Not a good look, Spain, that all your government services are DISMAL. The employees are too lazy to change anything because they can’t get fired, so why would they care to help their citizens or those residing in Spain legally. The system only benefits those who mooch or go under the table.

In the two years I’ve resided in Spain, I’ve had a Spanish employee in DC mail me the wrong passport (yes this is a federal crime), been unable to get my Padrón or TIE any morning on their website because people hack the system and SELL these appointments. People have offered to give me one if I pay fees of 40-100€ and when you go to the office they are unfriendly and simply say there’s nothing they can do. That’s incredibly messed up. It’s honestly just beyond embarrassing for the entire...
