Although I have enjoyed eating at Hundred for over a year, I am inspired to write a review because a member of their wait staff by the name Jose Miguel left me so impressed, that I am now more inclined to visit more often. The quality of the burgers at Hundred is outstanding because it is based on their high quality Rubia Gallega beef. The size of the beef patties is large and cooked to maintain its juices, but it is never greasy. The items that may come with your burger are well balanced so that you enjoy the taste of everything equally. The bread buns are thick, but light and toasted so you end up feeling full from the meat and its accompaniments than from the bread. Their potato fries are also made to perfection and seasoned with a dusting of spices that have you wanting a second serving. They also offer sweet potato fries, if that is a preference. Finding a restaurant that offers delicious food is a great, but when you have a person like Jose Miguel providing your service, the experience becomes magnificent. It isn’t an exaggeration that Jose Miguel is a star in the restaurant business and his talent is a pleasure to behold. I saw him move at the speed of light, taking orders with a super friendly demeanor and smile, and making everyone feel as if they were the only person dining at the restaurant. He is so good at giving you focused attention, despite being very busy taking care of other tables. He repeated back your order after telling him what you wanted to ensure the order was taken correctly and this also shows his special attention to detail. There were several English speakers that came to eat and he bounced from table to table, changing from English to Spanish like he had a switch built inside of him. This is expert level service care. He explained the menu well to every customer and remembered to bring anything else you asked for after your initial order, despite being very busy. He did everything with a joyful smile, from taking care of the customers to how he interacted with the other staff members at the restaurant. Jose Miguel left me with such a happy experience that I intend to return more often just to enjoy his service. He is a huge asset to the...
Read moreMy partner and I had such a disappointing experience from start to finish. It says on the wall ‘believe the hype’ but I would caution you to not believe the hype.
The online booking option had no explanation of the tables being full. We had to sit at the bar which had limited leg room. There were actually a lot of tables free during the whole duration of our meal.
The staff were grumpy and all had the same expression of being busy and slightly important.
The decor and library is impressive, however, the general seating plan of the restaurant was not great. There are not enough tables for couples, bar seating is uncomfortable and there was a waste of table space. For a restaurant in high demand this could be improved for a better experience.
The salad bowl was a disposable single use container.
There were lots of unserved burgers queued up in the serving hatch most of the time.
The fruit sauce on the salad took getting used to.
I requested my burger to be well done, when asked by the waitress, but it was medium rare. It was surprisingly tasteless and didn't have enough cheese. Also, the bun had a strange cake like after taste, not like the usual brioche. I've never been so disappointed in a burger before.
Our service was hurried, inpatient and abrupt. We were told to mention any problems with the burger as it arrived, which sounded ominous.
The superiority burger was dry and definitely not like any other superiority burger we've had before.
The toilets are filthy and there was no toilet paper in the ladies. It is a wasteful inefficient system.
We had to queue to pay rather than pay at the table/bar.
We were asked if our burger was ok, which took us by surprise. We awkwardly said it wasn’t and were immediately given all our food for free. This was an immediate red flag. I would have preferred to have paid for a better experience.
I have never ever felt the need to give feedback like this before. I...
Read moreSo I was hungry in the center of Valencia (actually I was starving). Googled some places that do burgers. Checked rating close to 5 and decided to go here. The design looked pretty good. Lots of free tables, what I luck I thought! Went to the host desk to have them sit me somewhere (as you would expect in some reputable places). A not so friendly busy host finally greeted me after a few minutes passing by and asked if I booked a table? I was like, no I just want to grab a bite real quick because I am starving so any table or stool would work. But to my surprise, I was denied. I asked if I can wait till some leaves, but was denied too. Again despite LOTS of free tables. I wasn’t going to stay long, just eat a burger and take off. It was about 3-4 PM Saturday. Not much of a busy hour. I had no other option than just leave and go find something to eat elsewhere. That sucked BIG TIME. Hungry people are angry people. And my impression about this “restaurant” is ruined for ever without even trying their food. I kind of understand that it’s the owner’s “concept”…but in reality it’s just a big F U for hungry people like me (I was not surprised to see other reviews like mine).
Oh. they actually offered me a burger to go, but the closest public bench I knew was like 5 blocks away! Where am I supposed to eat that expensive craft burger, on the floor like a homeless?
P.S. I went around the corner to a burger place right next to Hundred and finally bought a burger there…but it tasted awfully...
