雙月食品社 北投店 — Restaurant in Beitou

Managed to get a table just before they closed for service at 2pm. Service was friendly and efficient. We had no idea this place was Michelin guide reccomended, we just stumbled upon it as we were looking for a place to eat in Beitou and this place looked decent. I’m so happy we came here! After having tried a few different Lu Rou fan in Taiwan, this one was the best imo. Super tender and juicy pieces of pork fat. The sesame noodles were also great! We ordered the wrong soup on the machine so double check your order before you pay! The sesame soup we had was still nice though but we wanted the pork and mushroom soup. They provide free burdock root tea while you wait for a table and also during your meal. There is also complimentary self-serve chilli soy sauce. Already want to go back to Moon Moon food again! They have other branches in Taipei. Super cheap for the quality and taste...

Had lunch here. I don’t see what the hype was about. Read a lot of great reviews about this place. We ordered their chili chicken soup, bean sprout, oyster, and sesame chili noodle. The chicken soup was good, but the chicken was hard to chew on. The bean sprout was lack of flavor. The oyster was pretty good. And lastly for the noodle, it had a bitter taste to it. Not sure if it was supposed to taste like that. Also I saw that other customers were given a basket to put their belongings in except for us. We had to put our bags on the floor. Seats were small and tight. Had to share table with other customers. I don’t think I would return. Food was also not cheap...

We had a fantastic experience at the Qingdao branch a year ago. So we decided to revisit but this time the Beitou branch when we went to Thermal Valley.

Man what a disappointment. The sesame noodle tasted completely different from the one we had at Qingdao branch. The sauce was too thick and they were too generous with the green szechuan pepper oil. Tasted so horrible none of us could finish our noodle. However the ru rou fan and tofu etc were good. We enjoyed the black fungus drink too.
