As an American living in Taiwan, I've come to love exploring hot springs. I've certainly been to and enjoyed a great many. It's one of my favorite weekend adventures. I was so excited to visit Longnice. But that excitement quickly drained to disappointment. First it is tiny. The entire wet area is only about 350 sq ft (~9 ping). There are two small very small pools both with a very similar temperature 44°C / 110°F. The pools take up 95% of the entire area. There are only three showers. There's only one long bench where you can sit. They do offer small stools but these require you to stay in a squat position. As a big guy, it's not comfortable. Not to mention, there's almost nowhere you can use the stools without blocking everyone and everything. The clientele must come often. There was an air of entitlement and ownership and lots of judgemental stares. And because space is so limited, even when someone moves from their spot, they are constantly watching you to make sure you don't attempt to claim it. The price is NTD$150. It seems a good value, but for just NTD$100 more you can visit a much larger, cleaner, relaxing hot spring just down the street. I could only handle staying for about 45 minutes.l because it was so unpleasant. If you love the hottest water possible, no where to cool down, no where to sit, and constantly being watched and silently judged, then yes, this is the place for you. My first warning should have been when the attendant at the desk tried to talk me out of going inside. "There are only two hot pools. You cannot take your towel into the pool area. Are you sure you want...

If you’re seeking the most budget-friendly hot spring in Beitou, this bathhouse delivers at just $150 NTD. While it’s not a luxurious retreat, it’s an authentic and no-frills option for those curious about Beitou’s famous acidic springs.
The men’s side is compact, featuring two pools: one at an intense 46°C and the other at a slightly milder 42°C, separated by a simple stone divider. The facilities are basic, with three showers, a few lockers, and a toilet and urinal. It’s a small, functional space designed for soaking rather than lounging.
The water is what really sets this place apart. With a pH level of 1-2, the acidic spring water is known to strip away dead skin, leaving you smooth but also potentially tingly or itchy. After about 45 minutes, I started to feel an itchiness that signaled it was time to leave. The water also has a strong metallic taste, adding to its raw, unrefined vibe.
This isn’t a bathhouse for everyone. The facilities are spartan, the space can feel cramped, and the experience is quite intense. Bathing is nude, so first-timers should be prepared for a traditional hot spring environment. Bring your own towel, soap, and perhaps a good moisturizer—your skin will likely need it after the acidic soak!
While it’s far from a “hidden gem,” this bathhouse offers the cheapest way to experience Beitou’s hot springs. If you’re on a tight budget or want to experience the more rugged side of hot spring culture, it’s...
Read moreThis is one of the longest running hot springs onsen. It is quite basic but does the trick. And can't beat the price at 150TWD. If you go to another Beitou district area they run 250TWD. The neighboring hotel hot springs charge 1650TWD approximately unless you stay at the hotel. Long Nice Hot Spring can only hold 40 people max at a time so make sure to go earlier. I added the schedule here as they are closed at certain times. There are only 2 pools. One is about 41-43 degrees and the other is about 45.6 degrees so don't soak more than 3-5minutes at a time. They do provide lockers and showers. No dry sauna or steam room or cooling pool. Like I said, pretty basic but for budget conscious this works! No photos of the actual onsen as no cameras allowed and I forgot to take the exterior.
TIPS: They do not provide soap or towels, you can bring your own or rent loan onsen sized small towels. And purchase water and soap/shampoo.
Also if using Google Maps and MRT, type in Xinbeitou as final destination. Otherwise it may suggest you get off at Beitou (unless u are taking bus).
Should explore the area too. So much to see, Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Beitou Museum, some small temples and Plum House and Public...
