Sanpakhoi Market — Local services in Chiang Mai Province

This is an authentic local market, and not at all geared to tourists. Our hotel was nearby so we came often. Great place for fruits and veggies. Our street food rule, which has served us well in not getting food born illness, is we need to see cooked food come off a flame or out of a boiling pot. There were plenty of options that did not comply but plenty that did. The curry stand (opens at 3 pm) was amazing - 30 baht including rice or noodles; after tasting them all we much preferred #3, the green curry. The guy cooking thin steaks on a charcoal grill was also well worth a visit. Across the street there was a Vietnamese snack stand that also was good (closed about 4 pm). Good wet & dry market. You can find almost everything here for cooking needs like meats, poultry, seafood, fresh veggies, fruits, and herbs&spices... also have some food shops that sells ready-to-eat thai foods, snacks, and local desserts. Also have other shops like bread shop, key duplicate shop, lottery ticket, flower shop, and some clothing store. This market is quite busy in the morning so expect moderate to heavy traffic as the road here isn't that big.
