What a show! This is one of the few ladyboy shows left that are still reasonably priced, funny, and with good production and an amateurish charm. The lip syncs are perfect, costumes shiny, actresses pretty, waitresses sassy, drinks strong, and acts lively.
If you are on the fence this is a PG13 production, one (likely white) guy will get picked to go up either from the front row or the bar during the Rhiana act, his shirt taken off and him danced around, but nothing too raunchy by western standards. There are also spontaneous boob action during some dances when the actress walks the floor to the audience. Avoid front seats if you are shy.
Price did go up a bit but better than anything you'd find in Bangkok, 350 baht to get in, 100 baht to reserve a table (recommended If you want a center seat), and come with plenty of 20 baht bills for tips (waitress will stick her cleavage out until you throw in a bill or two, just roll with it).
Have coins with you because the nearest bathroom is 3 baht to get in, there is a maintenance lady with change but not for larger bills.
Arrive around 8 to 8:30 to buy your tickets and optionally choose a table, do a little shopping or browsing while you wait or get a beer at color bar, then come back at 9:15 to 9:30 (show start), trade your ticket for a beer. About 3 drinks is a good pace for the show including the beer. 150 baht cocktails (cheaper than nearby color bar) and I think 70 for beer. Have more tips ready if you want to take pictures with the cast afterwards.
Smile, be merry, and enjoy...
Read moreI visited the show last year and i enjoyed every minute of it. I visited the show 2 times this year already and more visits will follow. If you like music, dance color and happiness, the Chiang Mai Cabaret is the place to be. Having seen the show many times, it never gets boring. 2 Hours of joy, laughter, music; 2 hours enjoying artists that give us a wonderful time. 2 Hours of entertainment during which the audience becomes part of the show. Every artist gives his best for us. I love the show, the costumes, i love what it does to me. It is impossible to sit still. I can speak in superlatives but if i have to point out one negative thing; it ends to quick. After having seen the show so many times, i have my favorite artist, so I am biased. I can’t get my eyes off of her. But what we don’t see is just as important. Rehearsing the dance moves, learning the lyrics, I have seen artists moving in a way not many of us can do. After the show there is a photo opportunity. I can hear some grumpy people complaining that the artists like a financial token of appreciation. To those I want to say: You don’t work for free so why...
Read moreThis show was soooo much fun! We have a family of 5 and even my kids loved it. It isn't a kid show if you are conservative but omg we all had a blast! The "girls" are so funny and engaging. They involve the audience a lot. Definitely exceeded my expectations. My 11 year old daughter said it's the coolest and most fun thing she has ever done in her life. I 100% recommend this show. Bring lots of tip money. They deserve it. If you don't want to spend a bunch on tipping, bring a bunch of 20 baht bills. It's more fun when you tip to be 100% honest. It's a way of getting involved and giving back. So it's a positive thing in my opinion. This is such cheap entertainment and we laughed harder here than I probably ever have in my entire life. I'm 35 years old by the way and have seen sooooo many shows including a bunch of shows in Las Vegas. This show rivals the best shows in the world. Definitely buy VIP tickets. The extra fee in nominal and the experience is significantly better! Don't be scared. I'm a "manly" man and I went. Just do it and enjoy this different kind of cultural...
