Stumbled upon this little fish market just off the Galata bridge in Karakoy today. Had a fantastic fish wrap at Derya Deniz Balikcisi (on the left side as you enter the market). Amazing flavour and fun watching them prepare it.

Summer 2024, 3 kids + couple.

Very interesting and peculiar fish market, alive fish. From here, walk towards Galata Köprüsü, along the Golden Horn. You'll probably find some fellows with an improvised stand, grilling fish (both W and E from the bridge/"köprüsü".

Do try the karaköy uskumru dürüm. I bet your kids will love it, even if they have problems with fish bones at home.

I think of myself as a very open guy in terms of eating or drinking. I have to confess though i couldn't enjoy a drink they have here in Türkiye: not because of the exotism of containing turnip or carrots but the salt: it was a little out of...

Best place on the Istanbul European side to buy fresh fish and seafood daily. Prices are much better than local markets. Great variety (according to the season). Small fish, large fish, seafood, shrimps, crabs, lobsters and everything in between. We always buy from "Yakamoz" and get fresh herbs and vegetables from the...
