I specifically chose this place because of its name,Galata Sunset, and the strong ratings. I ignored all the other restaurant hosts who were trying to get me to dine with them, thinking this spot would be worth it.
I was craving fish, so I went straight to their seafood menu. Based on the staff's recommendation, I ordered the sole fish, which looked quite tempting in the menu. But what a letdown! When it arrived, it was mostly bones, hardly any meat on it. It felt like they had just deep-fried leftovers or worse, served a spoiled fish.
Also, if you’re going to name your restaurant Galata Sunset, at least give your customers a chance to enjoy the sunset, but instead, the staff were constantly standing in front of us trying to flag down passersby and upsell the restaurant to others.
Update: You said you didn’t charge for the fish, but there was nothing to eat anyway. And the dessert you offered as compensation was already complimentary, so it wasn’t much of a gesture.
And while you said it was a public place, let’s be clear, it wasn’t the public blocking the view. It was your own staff, just standing around and obstructing the experience for...
Read moreIf your looking for a good sunset view, this is the spot. But for me it is overrated. It is not a 4.9 restaurant. The communication is not good, just one of the waiter understood something that we were asking. We ask as entry humus, octopus salade and one fish soup. The humus very fresh, for my taste the octopus a little salty, and the fish soup was very good. And then as second palte we ask again for the octopus, by point on the menu (they have a plate with octopus in the menu that is served with rice and veggies) and some chips extra. Our surprise they arrived with some chips from one a pack, and then 5/10min later the octopus, and it was exactly the same of our entry, no rice or veggie with. We eat that thinking ok, at least we will pay for 3x octopus entry. Another surprise when after waiting 15min for the bill (the restaurant was empty, as it was march) and on the bill there was 3x the octopus by the price 900 turkish liras ( 3x900= 77€). For 2 cocktails, 3 octopus "salad", 1 chips, 1 hummus we end up paying 4600 TRY, 130€ for two people. So in my opinion, maybe it was the misunderstanding, but we were robbed 😔 Not a place that I would...
Read more5 star experience at the Galata Bridge. We dropped in here for a snack after taking a ferry ride along the Bosphorus. Despite servers from every restaurant along the bridge pressuring us to choose theirs, we decided to go here after quickly checking the high reviews and it was absolutely the best decision. The restaurant has a stunning view of the Bosphorus and the many mosques along the river, and we ended up spending over 2 hours there just enjoying the stunning view and peaceful afternoon breeze. This would be a wonderful place for a sunset dinner. Aside from the view, what also sets this restaurant apart is its excellent waitstaff. They were all so kind and hospitable and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Despite us only sharing a small sandwich as we weren’t very hungry, they even gave us complimentary tea and baklava at the end of the meal. Special shoutout to Denis. We will absolutely return here on future trips, and highly...
