My first visit was great. I stopped by on a Monday afternoon and it was fairly quiet. My first impression was jaw dropping; the views of the city are spectacular. I ordered breakfast (Sahanda Yumurta); the dish is served at the table in a saucepan along with a warm basket of bread rolls and my first Turkish coffee in Istanbul. It was all delicious and I was able to have my meal at leisure whilst fully enjoying the scenic views. Please note, that the restaurant portion of the venue is located on a rooftop terrace; entry is a doorway down from the cafe's entrance on the ground floor. My second visit was short lived. It was on a Sunday afternoon and upon arrival, most of the seating around the perimeters of the terrace were marked ‘reserved’. Although I proceeded to sit at an available table in the shaded area of the terrace, the maître d' asked me to move to a smaller table in the sun, that was meant for a party of 2 (rather than 4). I told him that I did not want to sit in the hot sun, when there was ample availability (at the time) in the shaded area. I decided to leave the venue, since I was not in the mood to fuss about it. The rooftop is nothing short of magical, offering an unrivaled view of the iconic Galata Tower. As the morning sun bathes the city in golden hues, there’s no better place to savor a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. The air is crisp, the ambiance serene, and for a brief moment, it feels like the world belongs to you alone.
Service here is in a league of its own. Attentive yet unobtrusive, polished yet personal. The staff greets you with genuine warmth.
For those who seek an escape from the city’s bustle, the best time to visit is as soon as the café opens. In those early hours, the tranquility, paired with an exceptional culinary experience, creates a moment of...
Read moreThis café while located extremely well has a very weird payment policy based on only and only cash payment. I did not have any cash on me and was planning to pay the bill with my credit card. I was with my guests unaware of this policy and felt extremely embarassed since one of my guest had the kindness to pay the bill. Knowing that even the bakkal (little market) around the corner has a pos machine for cc payment, I am really wondering what makes the Konak Café so special to impose this ONLY CASH payment. I will would never recommend this place to anyone!
