Although the food was not half bad, nor were we immediately put off by it, our experience was so horrible that I had to vent about it. First of all the food; decent but could definitely do with more seasoning on the lamb skewers. However what I really need to express and emphasise is one certain drink - the Aryan. This Turkish milk, while tasty and upon further research quite healthy, killed us. The food poisoning the day after was the worst I have ever experienced - I have vomited about 6 times upon writing this and have had non-stopping diarrhoea. For those of you asking why I am so certain it was this drink, it is because only me and my brother drank it, and the only one who did not was my mother who has been perfectly fine. Other than that, there is nothing special about this restaurant other than its dingy atmosphere and mediocre staff. Outside the restaurant, there was a lingering smell of sewage and faeces. While I see a lot of people mentioning the nice staff, it was merely what is expected at a restaurant, being adequate and nothing more. In conclusion, this restaurant was already nothing special in the slightest, however the horrible illness, taking away a full day of our family’s already limited holiday, was what incentivised to scathe this appalling place. And in a preemptive response to the bot generated response, no I will not be accepting your invitation back and I will likely never visit...
Read moreI had been in bed without food for two days due to a nasty hangover that Galata and I both created with gusto, so it was time to venture back out into the world and make up for not eating with all the food in one meal.
I chose Lily cafe because it had waffles. You're not going to get a waffle with maple syrup but you will get one with Nutella, chocolate, strawberries and bananas. Pair that with a Turkish breakfast for one and add a latte, and you're ready to roll!
The Turkish breakfast here is lovely because it has a good selection of mild cheeses similar to mozzarella and the bread is more like a handmade pita type.
The service was lovely as is the setting. Everyone's English was very on point making it super easy to hang and work with a little chit chat.
The wifi was good and they were sure to show me where the outlets. The Turkish breakfast alone is 45T = $7.18. Oh my goodness you can't beat that for all that cheese.
The music was good. Lee Hazelwood type 60s soul pop and jazz.
I'll come here again. For all the food, Istanbul and Travel you can handle, Check out my IG highlights...
Read moreBeware Food is overpriced here. 220-790, a steak is 790 tl. A sharing plater is 2700 tl. A coke or a sprite is 120 tl. Chicken was about 265 tl. Food was alright, service too. I came because of menu prices pictures in Google seemed reasonable but seems they changed their prices very recently as pictures from 10 months do not make sense anymore. We saw two groups of people leave because the prices in Google of course are no longer applicable and extremely high. Although their prices of course fit my budget, The owner attitude does not fit me. I do compare prices with other restaurants in more wealthy and flourised environments, which are even lower considering even restaurants in rooftops and inside international brand hotels. We made sure to leave a good tip so they do well. Respectfully, I am sorry the owner is being ruined by inflation in this country and thinks building his restaurant up is alright by overpricing the food and drinks. Place can use a good remodeling.
