Carrefour Market — Local services in Dubai

THE worst Carrefour location I have visited in my 11 years in Dubai and it's a shame as it was a cozy store and convenient for all Motor City residents until COVID hit and online delivery boomed.

It doesn't take much to improve on the below points, just needs well-organized and responsible store manager(s) giving equal attention to online orders + walk-in customers or else just convert this location to a dark store.

Here are the issues:

1. Not enough floor staff, what I mean you will see a lot of Carrefour staff in blue yet those have a priority for online delivery which means they will not always attend to your needs if you're a walk-in customer
2. Rarely is anyone at the deli section, I waited 15 mins last time and asking every Carrefour employee to help. each kept passing that responsibility to the next guy
3. No qualified merchandisers, the aisles and especially the frozen goods sections look as if an "end of the world" scenario happened with spilled products all over
4. Restocking is not always done and this was seen at different times/different days so not an excuse to say "it was the end of the day on a weekend"
5. Spotted on more than one occaision, rotting produce (tomatoes mainly) and perishables placed outside fridges for more than 10 minutes
6. Dirty/sticky floors in some aisle, broken fridge handles, barcode labels not all available
7. Only one self-barcode scanner which isn't enough as it's placed at the end of store where it is not easily noticed. There should be more near the deli, soft drinks, and pet food/detergents aisles
8. Not enough cashiers during peak hours which cause long queues and disgrunteled customers and no store manager on the floor as a show of support to staff or customers
9. Trolleys (both metal and the vertical red ones) are always missing as the online checkout staff are using them
10. In the deli section, when buying olives, there's always the issue of adding too much oil in the container as the spoon they use is not the slotted/with holes spoon which they can easily use and avoid the back and forth of pouring out oil
11. Also in the deli section, the labne/cheese bowls are always too close to the fridge's vents and more than once the deli employee by accident touched the vent with a spoon full of labne
12. Near the freezers, there are always a clutter of boxes that makes the feel of it as if we are shopping at a warehouse (these can be stored in the back)

Positive points: Self-checkout counters were the only positive change done to the store, baggers are always supportive, and cashiers...

Usually I do not leave negative reviews but I have to do it this time and hoping the head management will get to know that this place is very poorly managed. Most of the times I am visiting the shop is early morning around 7am when they open. That's exactly the time their staff is restocking the shelves so you have to slalom around the personnel and the palettes & shopping trolleys full of products especially at the veggies, and refrigerators areas. Here is the first place where I had to face this problem, everywhere else the restoking is conducted before the public is allowed to enter. If the staff's working hours start at 7am, then they should open the shop to the public at 8am and allow them to conduct this activity uninterrupted by the customers. A second matter I would like to signal and I am not the only one that has noticed it, as someone else mentioned it before in a comment is that you always have to wait a looong time at the deli counter to be served, not to mention that inside the counter is always messy, splashed everywhere and untidy. A third thing I find quite frustrating too is that the baking starts at 7am ...so to buy a fresh baguette or a croissant at that time is impossible. Basically the earliest you can buy something freshly taken out of the oven is 7:45am. Exactly the same problem at the fish counter...you will find no fish available to buy on the ice. Again, they should open the store at 8am so you know that at that time everything is available. But they have to open at 7am as the across the street competitor.... just that there everything is ready at...

Was handled by a lady - the name mentioned in the bill is Ms.Nizza Lasola and I was asking if I could have separate bill as the other expenses is for my office (don’t want to mix personal expenses with office expnses). with chewing gums in her mouth and flat face I asked again if that possible and she replied: “I can put it together if you want” and she throw the food which I wanted to have it separate. What is so difficult to say “im sorry I can’t do that” and don’t THROW the food like you don’t need them regardless the price of the food. You are so rude lady... If you are tired and not in a good mood, go outside for few minutes, breath some fresh air or look for something that makes you happy and comeback again in your station with smile in your face.
