The best restaurant we visited on our trip to Bath - truly delicious food, buzzing lunchtime atmosphere and great service. If you only have time for one restaurant, go here.
Starter: Highly recommend the Chefs Selection. Exceeded expectations and you really get a lots of variety (lots of dips, beef sausage, halloumi, vine leaves etc). The bread that comes with it was lovely.
Main: One of the best lamb shanks I’ve ever eaten. Fell off the bone. Flavour was spot on. Accompanying rice was cooked excellently. We also shared the mixed grill which had lots of flavour. Star of this was the lamb kofta. If I had to find a critique the lamb shish was a little tough so would recommend the chicken. However overall was delighted with the meal.
Dessert: Kazandibi was really different. If you like a tres leche cake then this is probably for you. Looks great and the boyfriend really liked it. Huge portion so great for sharing.
Service: Every member of staff who served us was friendly and welcoming. Complimentary pistachio Turkish delight after the main was a lovely touch.
All the little things: Good amount of tables with lots of space. The chairs are so comfy you won’t want to leave! Really enjoyed the crockery as well. The lamb shank was served in a dish with a great rim allowing you to cool parts of the meals (comes in a sauce which keeps it hot!!). Restaurant decoration is a little confusing but some beautiful murals on the wall - menus very nicely designed!
Allergy: Very good and attentive with my allergy. Nut and soy allergy. Didn’t feel limited on food choice at all. No menu items have soy. Only 2...
Read moreI really resisted not to write this review but I think somebody has to say stop to this madness. I have had enough of finding cartilages, bone pieces( or cartilage) in the meat that also makes me think what else do they grind into the mix? I could not eat anything else that day and my stomach next day had hard time getting rid of that food.My friends who also ate the same thing complained about it. I had t o hold myself really hard not to throw up, seriously it was horribly bad and it would not have been a good image in front of other customers. The apology of the staff was even worse , he said that we grind it 4 times so it should not have been there. There were more than once but this piece was the biggest one I took out of my meal. Connective tissues, other unedible dense parts and then you think "who knows what else in it?" Guys come on, your restaurant is in a top location, you make good money why don't you increase the quality a bit? How much is a top quality minced meat from your next door waitrose? It is £5.00 per kg, for god's sake how much can you save when you grind your own lamb? And do you have to use lamb if the cost is your excuse? Surely %90 of the Türkiye uses beef in their meatballs/adana why your chef can't use? I can teach him and we can stop this disgusting way of grinding meat.
I know that you just throw everything thinking "English People don't complain" but please guys is this how we cook in Türkiye, is this what we are known, do you really need to cut costs in that minced meat? Get it from waitrose and you a portion will cost you ...
Read moreWe got the mixed grill platter (£28) and grilled prawns (£14). The prawns were overcooked. The grill platter wings and salad were really good. But the chicken shish piece was slightly dry and chewy, while the lamb shish one was almost inedible. Waaay too chewy and tough. The beef kebab was similarly chewy, tough and dry. We couldn't get through all of it. The lamb rib was cooked ok but not that juicy or flavourful. At least I could chew it unlike the kebab, which was too tough to even cut a piece of it off.
The bread was okay.
When the waiter asked how it was halfway during the meal (with lots of food left), I told him those things. He said "in 34 years I've never heard "it's okay"" and walked away without any other response. So it's the customer who is wrong, and not the food which in this instance clearly wasn't good?
Forget compensation or rectifying the situation, the LEAST could have been sorry. When I reiterated this fact at the end, he said, well you ate most of it...well, you didn't offer to do anything at the start, and we ordered 1 appetizer and 1 main between 2 people so ofc we were still gonna try and eat what we paid a lot of money for.
Overall, lots of money spent for a very disappointing food and service experience. If the food is bad, the service and attitude can help the customer still leaving content. Unfortunately, not in this case.
I've had food in Turkey, and many Turkish places around UK. Sadly, this experience has been...
