Sanremo The Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Bath

My experience at Sanremo was amazing! I came across it on TikTok and based of the videos I had seen, I knew I wanted to do my birthday meal there! I went there for my birthday with all of my family! There was about a good 24 of us, so there was a lot of us haha! We were given the private dining room upstairs, it was so beautiful, it was so nice and spacious, we had 2 babies with us that evening, so the space really made it to have access for 2 pushchairs to be stored comfortably, my family and I loved the people who were serving us, they were so great, they attending to our needs so quick and they were amazing considering we were quite loud! They didn’t mind that at all, there was background music playing, the atmosphere was so lovely, the people in the restaurant were so nice and kind, very welcoming people and very smiley, the interior in the downstairs restaurant is out of this world, really beautiful interior! The food was amazing!! I had the RAVIOLI ARGOSTA E GAMBERI WITH PATATE AL FORNO and it was out of this world! My family had a mixture of things, some had the Salmone and some had the MEZZI RIGATONI GAMBERI E ZUCCHINIE and we had lots of starters and sides to share between us! We had lots of mocktails which were amazing, the pina colada just needed slightly adjusting and we requested for it to be more creamier and coconutty! But other than that, it was amazing! They were really accommodating here aswell as we have a dietary requirement of just Halal food, so if there was any wine etc in any food, they would take it out and ensure they didn’t use wine in the food, they also had a register system, to call people out to make sure everyone got their food! This was great! As I sent in pre orders and names with them and I didn’t think they would print it off and they did and it worked really help to be able to understand that everyone had their food which they did! Some of my family members were talking to the people in the restaurant and they was telling them how everything is homemade and freshly made and you could definitely know that from every bite you took! It was so beautiful, I loved all of my good and so did my family, I loved every bit of this evening, we had to dessert, tea and coffee to end off the night and the dessert was out of this world too! It was so good! The manager Chloe was great! I was calling up all the time ahaha to double check things/make some changes and she and her team were really accommodating to my needs and what I wanted and they were so patient which I really appreciate it! I would definitely recommend going to this restaurant for your next party, birthday, get together, whatever you want to call it but I would 100% recommend Samremo as everything here from start to finish was absolutely...

Oof. Where do I begin? Booked this for Valentine's weekend meal for my husband and I as a treat, but by the end, we couldn't wait to leave. First, when we were sat down, we were put between two vents blowing out super-hot air, so we were roasting. Totally get that it's February and you don't want guests to be cold, but it was insane.

We ordered our first lot of drinks, a couple of cocktails, which were fab and arrived in relatively good time. Our table was booked for 6pm, so it was before things got busy. We ordered our starters and they arrived about 20 mins after -- it took a little longer than expected, but not a crazy amount of time. We had 2 drinks in that time.

Then we ordered our mains, which took over 1.5 hours to get to us. When my partner asked where the food was, about 1.25 hours into waiting, our server said she'd look into it, but she didn't come back until after our mains were served. In that time, things got busier, and the staff got more stressed.

A couple next to us left and were told they didn't have to pay their bill for drinks because their food was taking so long to come out, and they weren't the only ones who left early. I tried to order more drinks to enjoy with our mains, but the server dropping the food off couldn't take our order, so we had to wait for our server to come back to order drinks -- we'd nearly finished our meals when we were able to order third drinks (1hr 45mins into our stay).

We found a new game to play while we were waiting for our meal/drinks, though -- since we could see the kitchen and the hatch where the food was waiting, we kept an eye on a basket of bread that was there for at least 1.5 hours while we were there (probably longer, it was only about 45 mins into our visit that we'd noticed it).

The food was okay -- nothing special, but still tasty. Good, but not worth a 1.5 hour wait from ordering. After we'd finished our mains, we were left with the dishes for another 20 mins, and when another server came over to eventually take them away, I asked for the bill. We'd intended to have a 3-course meal with a good few cocktails, but ended up trying to get away as soon as we could (which turned out to be 2.5 hours).

I felt bad for the staff, since they looked stressed, and lots of people were waiting outside for their late bookings, but something clearly went wrong with the system. I feel bad about leaving a negative review, but we honestly didn't have the chance to speak to anyone while we were there, since everything was so long between courses.
