I've lived at 123 York Street since it was completed in 2019 (two years) and am now sad to see the end of my university course and tenancy at the accommodation. It was understandably quite a stressful start for all the team because of the building's construction, and then not to mention the pandemic.. I honestly cannot fault any one of them, I keep to myself mostly but any interaction that I've had with staff had been an absolute delight, much in contrast to my previous student experiences at halls in London. Even the security staff who work overnights greet me when I return home from working long hours at university. I've got friends in other halls and this is definitely not the case elsewhere.
I lived in a studio flat which has been perfect for me, so cannot speak for the other room types. I've seen the odd comment about the windows not opening, aside from the fact there are legitimate reasons for doing this, the windows are huge, floor to ceiling openings and often enough you get a great view. I just finished a Masters course in Architecture, and it's really nice to see a students halls building be given the attention that students deserve.
Goes without saying the location is ideal, having the Cityside Retail Park up the road is perfect, something for everyone. The immediate surroundings are a bit ugly (5 lanes of traffic), but I'd say having everything close by is a fair trade.
I think if I had to fault something, perhaps the laundry facilities are quite limited at busy times of day, although this could be avoided if there was a effective way to manage it. I also had to buy some smaller storage draws for my room, don't get me wrong there is a tonne of storage - I have a couple of empty cupboards.. But wanted some storage areas for smaller belongings beside my bed.
It's been a shame about the pandemic, as there would have been a really great atmosphere around the building. Really recommend...
Read moreFar superior in maintenance of the rooms and kitchen. I had a faulty sink stopper. I thought I was going to get charged. Nope! They're so much more understanding and reliable compared to Student Roost Accommodations.
My favourite staff is definitely Chelsea, as the front desk of 123 York Street. She is very friendly and welcoming. Always a joy to see her at the front desk and always has said hello to you with a smile. It brightens up any sad days you have.
Their garbage rooms are much cleaner and tidier than the ones in Little Pats or Great Pats. Their bike storage is inside instead of outside, so your bikes won't get more rusty due to the weather.
They have far superior facilities of washing machines, tumble dryers and even an Ironing set. The room for these washing machines and tumble dryers are well spaced out with plenty of machines to wash and dry.
Here they have both disabled toilets and normal toilets for the guests to use. They also have a cafe space to hold small events and have coffee in. Beside it is a study space with plenty of seats in the middle and by the window.
They also have a social space where there are a lot of bean bags, filtered water, and a pool table. Then down the side is a movie and games room, with a popcorn machine and a wall full of puzzle games. They also have an acoustic guitar in there if you want to play~
The rooms are the basic essentials you'll need for study. Ensuites with a study desk, bookshelf, wardrobe with two small drawers. Plus two large under the bed. The room has many plugs and USB slots to use. Plus they have a pin board above the desk to make your room as personalized...
Read moreI am having an incredible experience staying at this student accommodation! The rooms are modern, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, providing the perfect balance between comfort and functionality. The staff here truly go above and beyond, they are always friendly, approachable, and willing to help with any concerns.
What really made my stay unforgettable, though, was the sense of community. I was able to meet amazing friends and create memories that will last a lifetime. This accommodation fosters an environment where students can thrive socially and academically.
