I visited there on Sunday 29th August and wasn't happy with the quality of service or food. We ordered 3 bottles of wine initially all different and they were not in stock I eventually asked the girl to tell us what red wine was available.

We had a table booked for 8.30 but said if anything came available earlier we would be delighted. The girl looking after the bookings did come and offer us a table at 7.30 but said we would have to have it back by 8.30 and while I was checking she gave the table to somebody else which was a walk in.

We ordered 1/4 duck which was beautiful and then ordered fillet steak dishes for our mains, here the problem lies, the fillet was "rump" really tough and difficult to eat. Eventually I called a member of staff (as nobody had come to ask us was everything ok) to say it was inedible, another girl came to the table and I said we couldn't eat it and would not be prepared to pay as everything was still on the plate. When the bill came out the sides were on the bill and I refused to pay as we couldn't eat any of the main dishes. The original lady who did the booking came out and made it very embarrasing for us she said she would get the staff to pay for the sides it was horrendous and I would never go back. To be fair others around seemed to have got good food and maybe we were just unlucky with our meat. However the way the complaint was handled was very embarassing and I said 3 times I did not want to make a fuss. A very disappointing experience when we had been recommended to go to the...

Had a beautiful meal here as a group of 9 friends the other week as a university reunion. Despite a lovely setting and great food there were a few issues. As expected on a busy Saturday night there was a time limit on the table whcih is completely reasonable but we were reminded constantly of that fact from we came in and it made us feel uneasy and rushed. After our mains, there was a mixture of desert and extra drinks ordered for the table . One member of the table ordered an expresso martini which originally was missed off the order by staff (again these things happen I understand). Shortly after receiving his espresso martini we were given our 10 minute reminder to give back the table and the waitress turned to my friend and said ā€˜don’t worry about finishing that drink, I’ll let you finish it in t be street’. Again I understand the time restraints with other bookings coming after us but after a table of 9 spending a lot of money and the original espresso martini order being missed by staff being told to ā€˜finish it in the street’ is completely unacceptable. As I said food was great and no complaints with it but overall experience felt very rushed and I would describe the experience as restaurant quality food and pricing but the atmosphere of a fast food...

Do not waste your money. Was in a party of 12 for a stag dinner, from being sat down to actually getting just the starter was 45 minutes. Sat down in a DARK and cramped tiny room with so many other customers just crammed in you have to yell over your own table just so your friend can hear you.

All of the party had downloaded the PDF menu for house of zen before hand and we had already chosen what we wanted, most of us where going for the 4 course set menu, imagine being that prepared to only sit down and be told you can't order from that menu, we have to order from the celebrations set menu which only provides 2 courses and is more expensive than the 4 course....disgusting.

And then the food, I ordered duck as my main, overcooked to hell and I ordered chips as my side...tasted like the cheapest freezer bag chips they could find. I get chinese takeout in east belfast that has better quality of food tbh.

And finally to top it all off despite the fact they had two waiters writing down our orders when we went through the receipt they had over charged us by near £80, stuff listed on the bill that NO ONE ordered, gotta wonder if it's incompetence or done on purpose hoping we...

I love this place but the service was a bit of a let down in the lead up to Christmas. Three reminders before a drink arrived - lost business as more sales could have been made. House special beef with wasabi pepper sauce was ok but not great. Starter of chicken sesame toast was superb. Mix up with the rice and 3 portions of egg fried rice arrive instead of boiled. Had to wait ages on a portion of noodles to arrive by which time everyone else’s food was getting cold. The garlic prawns were swimming in oil and small lumps of garlic and not marinated in it. The strawberry rib starter was odd as it was merely a slice of strawberry lying in the bowl. Single female, male and disabled toilets which were ok. Seating areas and styling is lovely in this restaurant- very intimate but they do squash you into the seating booths too much. Definitely a let down on the last visit so not in a rush to head back when there’s so many great places to visit.

House of Zen is a quaint Asian cuisine restaurant nestled among other restaurants in St Anne’s Square. The inside of the restaurant is packed tightly together but how it’s laid out is perfect, an excellent use of space. The food is very nice, definitely above average but from what I had, wasn’t blowing me away either. Dim Sum was nice with the chilli soya dip and then typical west Belfast lad gets a beef curry main with salted chilli chips and beef curry. Wonderful cocktail bar with a wide selection of drinks to choose from, tried ā€˜The Teachers Pet’ which is a dragonfruit gin, nice refreshing taste! All in all, a great night out. Service was very efficient and staff are always on hand to help or serve. Highly recommend a night out here!

Heard good things about this place regarding the food but it didn't live up to expectation... Service was very slow to start, having seen people that came in after us getting served first.... Food was OK nothing spectacular... Ordered the, what I thought was crispy shredded chicken (peking style) with egg fried noodles... It was more like chicken chunks and it was overdone like the squid... Pure rubber... Crab meat soup I had for a starter... Was alright... I lv crab but barely tasted of it and left a funky taste in ur mouth... Texture was weird aff to lol I had a cocktail (peach seduction) didn't have any complaints about it. was delightful but at tenner a pop they are quite expensive. Prawn crackers where nommmm
