I visited Topblade Portadown with friends on Friday 31st March and again on Monday 3rd April with my partner. On both occasions the experience was an absolute let down! Both occasions the temperature of ALL of the steaks was wrong... so wrong in fact that any good cardiologist with a defibrillator could have breathed life back into the cow. Topblade was recommended to me on a number of occasions by multiple people, however, I certainly would not recommend it to anyone else. I was able to forgive Friday's transgressions in the hopes of a better meal on Monday but it wasn't to be. I will however, make mention of our server Laura in the Belfast branch. Laura made the terrible steaks much more palatable with her charisma. She was a pleasure and is an absolute asset to her employer - this lady deserves a pay rise... she bore the burden of her employer incredibly well. Not only did she make our experience a little better, it appeared she did so too for the table beside us. She deserves a pay rise - I hope Topblade take note of her excellence and reward her appropriately. Thank you Laura!

An underwhelming experience. Went for dinner midweek. It’s a very small restaurant and the interior felt very cold and lifeless. The menu has been printed and laminated to an unnecessarily massive size compared to the table and felt very unsophisticated. The glass for the Prosecco was very dirty and had to ask for a new one. The waiter came with a very large tray that almost hit me in the head and he seemed very unaware of how close it was to me. The seitan was nice but felt compared to a steak, it was a very poor portion size. Presentation was a bit meh. The sauces were nice though the two peppercorn sauces we got weren’t evenly filled and I think the pots would be better having an actual spout. I found the flat plates with the sauces a bit unnerving too. The mash was fine but the market veg much too undercooked for my liking. The chocolate cake was fine but some parts were slightly warm and others cold and the ice cream did not have real vanilla in it either. The meal was very expensive, coming to £71 which I do not think it was worth it and unfortunately, I don’t recommend.

I was looking forward to going here for a long time and I have to say I'm disappointed. The food was lovely but I couldn't help but feel rushed. I was still eating and had drink left but the waitress asked are we paying cash or card while we're still drinking and finishing food. We said cash then about 2mins later she came back over sayingwe need the table in 5mins. We booked the table and it states tou get it for 2 people for 1hour 15mins we didn't even get that long however we stayed and for the price we payed we made sure we got our 1hr15mins. Its very small and tables are very close so you can't help but hear what the people next to you are talking about. Such a shame as I wanted to enjoy the overall experience and go back. I love steak but we'll try somewhere else next time. The dress code for customers is smart yet the staff don't dress smart either. To me they should be leading by example too by dressing smart if thats what they are wanting their customers to do. Such a shame if I'm being honest.

TOP BLADE ST ANNS SQUARE BELFAST

where do I even start went out for dinner had a lovely meal staff seemed fine at this point we paid left the restaurant 6 minutes later I realised I had forgotten my bag so we rang the restaurant to tell them and the manager gavin had said no bag was there we asked can you check the cameras he had said they don’t have cameras I wasn’t taking his word so I went back because I knew I left it there went back asked who cleaned our table he told me he did himself i asked had anyone else been at the booth from we left he told me no I said so obvs u seen the bag he told me no then I asked had any other staff members seen it told me no again he was so unhelpful for a “manager”so went outside rang the police, then went back inside to see there was a camera right above from where we sat, asked him about the camera told me it didn’t work because of the Wi-Fi, so lied about having no cameras then story’s chnaged ,went back outside my baby started to cry he came out and gave me his number told me sometime “junkies” come through the back and steal on his staff try to make me believe that someone had came in between them 6 minutes and stole my bag then had told me to take a lap down an alley and look in a bin told me that’s where “junkies” stash the stuff that apparently steal on his staff I didn’t move from outside for him to call people with addictions junkies discuss me and for him to be so professional and trying to get me away from the premises sounds to suspicious to me, 2 other girl staff members wernt so helpful acting like they hadn’t a clue few minutes went by and Michael went to the car to try park closer for me because my baby needed fed and was crying during all of this then one of the girl staff members came out with my bag and asked if it was mine I asked where she had found it she told me in the girls bathrooms in a bin which was weird because I never used the bathrooms once in the place she told me she was in cleaning it and looked in the bin don’t know why she was cleaning it and in a bin she’s a waitress not a cleaner and the manager told me no one was near the booth while we had left because he was cleaning it so would love to know how it got in the bathrooms in a bin ?? it was about a hour before they gave me my bag back I had left with my bag and went home counted my money correctly and there was £580 missing out of my purse worst about it it’s my baby’s money he got kindly gifted from his christening absolute discrase thieving on a young mummy have to be ashamed of themselves!! After all the comments ,,MAY I ADD TO THIS POST THERE WAS A LARGE SUM OF MONEY LEFT IN THE PURSE WHEN I GOT IT BACK !! Wednesday 10th July reservation at 7.30pm ordered our drinks and food. By 8.15pm we still hadn’t had our food. We had finished our drinks, other people who came in after us had their starters and mains. There were staff members working, but the guys behind the bar were watching the euros on someone’s phone and that was more important apparently. 50 minutes went by and my partner asked if we could just pay for the drinks and leave. The guys were confused and didn’t even know what table we were at. The manager in the red top went into the kitchen to see where our food was and they told us our food never was put into the kitchen. We asked what had happened to our order, and the manager said “we have a new staff member and she didn’t put it in”. A male took our order and they tried to blame it on the young girl who was the only person working! She took our drink order and was the friendliest person there. I’m very disappointed that they couldn’t own up to their mistake and blame a new staff member. When the manager said it was the new staff member, I told him that it wasn’t her who took the order, it was the man who was standing right behind him watching the football. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them time because they might have been busy but they were only busy watching the euros. They did apologise and give us a bottle of Mionetto Prosecco but we were more looking forward to our steak. Unfortunately we will not be back, we’re very disappointed that they would pass the blame on to someone else who is only new. It doesn’t lead by example. The young girl was very good at her job and was fast...

Top Blade has been on my to go list for quite some time, and recently I have finally got time to go, but the experience was disappointing and underwhelming.

  1. temperature of food - I do understand that steaks are rested to enhance flavour and texture, but my steak was below acceptable temperature - it was below warm, not cold, but definitely not how it should be served to customer. My pepper sauce was the same and the only thing that was hot was my potato fries and mac and cheese

  2. Timing - After my steak was served, there has been no sign of my pepper sauce nor did the waiters mentioned anything about it. I was 1/3 into my steak when the pepper sauce was served.

  3. Details - my fork was missing hence didn’t checked the table beforehand, there was no salt or pepper on the table initially as well

  4. Quality & price - might as well just get a steak from M&S and make it yourself. For drinks - Coke Zero , I think it was 330ml slightly more or less and it costed £2.80.

The experience was certainly disappointing, and my boyfriend and I just ended up going to Mackle’s ice cream to cheer ourselves up as we just figured that dessert might just be as disappointing as mains and side.

Overall- The style/theme of restaurant does not match the price of food. There were few younger staff on the day, and I was sat at a table where they were the only one that I could spot or ask for help, but they were just having their own conversation around the bar. Will I go back ? Probably not Would I recommend...
