I joined Valesco Brislington after hearing some really good recommendations from friends, and I’m not surprised to see why. The classes are so well thought out, with time for warm ups and cool downs which are crucial for the sessions! There are so many classes available that you’ll be hard pushed to find one that doesn’t fit in your schedule.
The training blocks really help you to see your progression with strength or any skills you’re practicing, which can all be logged on their app. I’ve found all the coaches to be so knowledgeable and friendly, they will push you to the best of your ability whilst listening to any concerns you have, and advising on how to scale moves you’re unsure on.
I think the size and layout of the gym is planned brilliantly, there is space for “open gym” at the back, and classes being taught at the front to allow for focused training - and there’s still room for the coaches dogs to watch and be the sideline cheerleaders.
I personally love that it’s an independent, female-run gym that’s highly inclusive and makes working out enjoyable. I’ve seen more progress at Valesco than any other gym I’ve been a member of - including another CrossFit gym. If you’re new to functional fitness, or just want a change in gyms, I could not recommend Valesco...
Read moreI joined Valesco Brislington in June, with no prior functional fitness experience. Previously I’d dabbled with various commercial gyms, but I’d always find myself losing interest after a few months and giving up. I’m now 5 months into training with Valesco Brislington and there’s no lack of motivation, in fact the complete opposite. I look forward to training there.
The coaches make you feel very welcome right from the start, and take a genuine interest in getting to know you. The standard of coaching is great. Each has their own style, but they are all constantly watching to making sure you are working as safely and efficiently as possible. The coaches are also encouraging, without acting like an army drill sergeant. There’s no shouting or screaming, just a positive environment which pushes you to work as hard as YOU can.
Starting out the more experienced members made a real effort to talk, and make you feel welcome. The atmosphere in class is always fun and friendly. Which is always nice when you work from home, as it’s a refreshing way to break up the day. It probably sounds clichéd, but the community that’s been built at Valesco Brislington is great and a massive credit to...
Read moreJoined in November after circumstances meant I had to stop riding and left me feeling pretty rubbish! And my partner encouraging me to come with him to Valesco. Having attended commercial gyms over the years, but never classes or functional fitness, I was a little sceptical, but I can hand on heart say this gym is amazing!
The coaches and owners are fab, each session is meticulously planned and you feel encouraged without being barked at. All abilities are welcome and every exercise is scaled to suit your level of fitness - this was a concern of mine about feeling left behind but it just absolutely isn’t an issue. I still feel challenged and work hard, but it allows you to really see progress as you get fitter and scale up exercises, rather than struggling massively with the difficulty from the outset.
All the members are friendly and encouraging and I would fully recommend anyone looking for a supportive and social gym to think about Valesco (also...
