By far the worst spa experience we have had and would most likely not recommend this place to anyone. We booked this spa for our anniversary as we thought we’d want a nice way to relax. We were made to pay on our arrival before we’d even had our treatments baring in mind we’d already paid a 50% deposit over the phone. It made us feel like thugs and judged before we’d even had the chance to enjoy our experience.
On the website treatments are advertised as 50minutes. This would assume a 1 hour slot would leave 10minutes for filling paperwork and getting changed and at most a 45minute should time be dedicated to your actual treatment. We paid £160 for two people for a 50minute freestyle massage. In addition to this we paid an extra £10 for robes and slippers which had no use as the spa did not allow access to any relaxation room or facilities after your treatment like most spa places do especially for that absurd price. We weren’t told about this until after we had paid for the robes and towels which had no use. Despite arriving at the time scheduled, our treatment only lasted for 35minutes and when this was queried we were advised we should have arrived earlier although we arrived exactly at the time booked for.
We had our massage in the couples room which was far from relaxing. The two girls completing the massage kept whispering to each other during our treatment. They were like little school kids. In addition to this, the pressure of massage being applied was only asked once during treatment and was poor throughout the most of it. The girls appeared very inexperienced, not allowing us to chose which essential oils we’d like simply just slapping an unknown oil on our skin and definitely not creating a relaxing atmosphere in the slightest. No room was made for clients preferences or dislikes or whether there we’re even any allergies. They did not talk us through anything at the beginning of the massage other than to take our clothes of and just proceeded without any formal communication. It was as if they were preparing for their BTEC examination on test dummies. The only nice thing was being offered a glass of water at the end although we were soon then rushed out of the room.
On completion of the massage, as with most spas, we thought we would be ushered into a relaxation room or wind down room. This was not the case here, we were simply asked to get changed as other guests were waiting. The attitude of the blonde girl with glasses was foul, she made us feel rushed at the end suggesting it we wanted to use facilities we could get changed into our clothes and go to the wave reception to use their facilities over there. The look on her face looked far from friendly. We weren’t happy with this so asked what else we could have, we were advised we could pay £4 each in addition for a smoothie or glass of Prosecco. Given the attitude this was delivered we were not made to feel welcome and therefore did not go ahead with this.
Before the treatment took place, I asked around any deals for cvlife members as me and my partner are both registered at the AT7. I was told these were completely separate entities (at7 and mana spa) and could not be used in conjunction or as part of any packages. I later realised upon returning home that this could have been part of of our monthly subscription at an additional cost as this is offered for all members of the leisure centres. It would help if staff actually knew what they were talking about.
As robes were not used I asked for a refund for this rightfully so and advised receptionist if they knew we had no scope in using this then this shouldn’t have been provided to use in the first place.
Definitely not worth the money paid and most definitely will not return. The money paid would have given us a very satisfying treat in many other places.
Normally do not leave bad reviews but thought this had to be said. Managers of facilities either need to train their staff appropriately or invest well in their managerial skills if they aim to be considered a therapeutic...
Read moreThis is the worse spa I’ve ever been to. Don’t waste your money! I booked through Groupon as a joint treat for myself and my partner following a hard pregnancy and labour 5 and a half weeks before spa visit (emergency c section) Before arriving to the spa, they sent out one form to be completed asking questions relating to health etc despite the booking being for two of us. It said to inform them of surgery with the last 6 weeks so I put this information on there but also called twice leaving voicemails on both occasions asking for calls back from the team at the spa to find out prior to our arrival if it was okay to have my choice of treatment after the surgery which was a massage. No one got back to me on any occasion. On arriving to the spa, we both wasted a good half hour or more just trying to secure our belongings in a locker because the wrist bands provided for us to do that didn’t work. We both had our wrist bands swapped at reception but I had to do this 3 times before I received one that finally worked so we lost valuable time paid for in the spa messing around with that. Following on from this we went into the spa and used the sub par facility’s. Then it was time for our treatments so we arrived to our treatment and my partner was given his form to complete then. After this we were told that they have read our forms that day and I won’t be able to have the treatment (massage) following recent surgery which i has put on my form prior to the day. We asked to speak to manager Rachel who was rude and unhelpful. When I explained to Rachel that this information was lon my form before us even arriving to the spa, she kept saying the forms don’t go to them so they have only just read them and they get sent out prior to visit to save time on the day. However they didn’t save any time at all as my partner still had to do one because they only sent one out beforehand. They had also wasted hours of our time on the day, Travelling to the spa which is an hour drive for us and then refusing my treatment because they had not read the form before our arrival. If a member of the team called me back when i left the voicemail then we could or rearranged our visit. It’s not our fault as customers if the forms don’t go to them and what’s the point in sending them out before if there not reading them beforehand? Rachel offered a different treatment but I chose not to have them as the treatments on offer were not what I paid for or wanted. I explained to Rachel that I had left voicemails when calling beforehand to warn them of my surgery and to enquire if I could have the massage. Rachel just fobbed us off saying she will investigate and try and locate the voicemails I left. When my partner asked her to do it in our presence, she she said she couldn’t as she was going to a meeting so we went home A few days later, Rachel emailed me saying she couldn’t find the voicemails that I left. That’s convenient. They have obviously been deleted so she can refuse the refund we requested. In the email from Rachel, she also stated that as I declined alternative treatments and that she couldn’t find the voicemails that she won’t be refunding our purchase so that have effectively kept money for a treatment I didn’t receive. It didn’t matter to rachel that the treatments offered were not what I wanted or paid for. It was clear from her email after the event that it was expected that I accept one of the few treatments she offered or nothing and if I didn’t then it gives her the right to keep the money. At no point in her email did she offer a different day for the massage. Not that I would want to return following...
Read moreAwful service and attitude. The manager Rachel was rude and did everything she could to fob us off. We purchased our package via groupon and booked in treatments. As my other half was 5 weeks post C-Section, we called twice and left voicemails to ensure that we could get the treatments we booked. We did not receive any call back. Upon arriving we used the sub par facilities and when it was time for our treatments, my other half was advised she could not have her massage due to her having ticked the box that stated 'surgery in the last six weeks'. She was offered a facial, which is not what we wanted so declined. If we wanted those treatments we would have booked initially. Upon speaking to Rachel, the manager she stated she would 'have to investigate' and listen to the voicemails, which she ultimately couldn't find. She stated in her email it is doctors advice to avoid massages and lieing on your front for 12 weeks post surgery, when their form states 6? So there is a contradiction there straight away. She refused the refund in other part because we refused the alternative treatment offered. I am sure if we turned up for a treatment and offered to pay in alternative money, such as monopoly money, she would refuse . She is now dodging our calls because she knows she is in the wrong and is trying to pull a fast one. After a tough pregnancy, my other half was looking forward to this massage and the team at Mana Spa have literally ruined the potential experience, cost us money in booking, travel, and parking - and then refused the treatments. I understand if it is on medical grounds, but we did call to enquire this and were not contacted back twice. She has obviously found the voicemails and deleted them so she can avoid agreeing to a refund. Rachel hasn't even had the backbone to call us. She has emailed and got her staff to advise she is not available. I have requested a call back to discuss but I am 100% certain she won't call as she and the company is very sly and underhanded. Do not waste your money on this place, you will be 100% disappointed.
Edit in response to the reply. You seem to have cherry picked isolated points to make yourselves look better. You haven't advised why I wasn't called back. You've glossed over the fact that we supplied phone records to prove calls were made and messages left. You haven't mentioned why Rachel stated it's advised medically to wait 12 weeks post surgery, yet it's only 6 weeks on the form? The Spa Manager has gaslit and dodged points in email in an attempt to look good, but the reality is, it's all a front. If you can't delete voicemails, then based on our phone records you have exact timestamps that you can call your provider to retrieve these 'lost voicemails', but we know you won't do that as it'd be the decent...
