Dhillons Brewery Spire Bar — Restaurant in Coventry

I would have liked to have liked this place but arriving at opening time on a Friday must be a bad idea. Firstly we were turned away because they were busy setting up the sound system for later. We went back after popping into The Squirrel for a quick one as it was on our way for our eventual destination for the night. First impressions weren't great. The venue itself is fabulous but the staff were useless. There were 4 or 5 of them but for several minutes we were simply ignored. I was on the point of saying to my friends that we could move on when a youth with no shirt on and a scrawny chest with some cheap tattoos asked me what we wanted. I had assumed that he was some sort of a delivery person. We ordered 3 craft beers which turned out to be 0.33 litre cans, which came to £13.75. Nearly £14 for a litre of beer! In Coventry! They didn't even accept card payment. The beers were not bad but overall this was a poor experience. They must be getting something right because the place was packed when we went past again at 11 p.m. I don't think we'll hurry...

They've really done this place up, really love the individual little cabins with inbuilt heaters and speakers, great for a group of 4-6. Staff were nice but didn't have much knowledge on the beers, told me to email in my questions. If you are going in search of good beer, you will be disappointed.. I have tried time and time again Dhillons Brewery beers and they never live up to the hype, some I've had to ask for my money back they're so bad. You might think "obviously he doesn't know his way around a craft beer" but trust me, I'm an enthusiast! This picture is of 2 beers bought and poured at the same time, both looking and tasting completely different. Looks to me like one had oxidised and in such case, shouldn't have been canned and sold. If you're ordering beers here; over their spectacular cocktails, then you're in the wrong place. Genuinely the hospitality here is impeccable, great staff who genuinely care for their craft and customers overall. Had a bad start to the night and suspected it was the end, but this was turned around entirely when we met Sofia - their dedication and commitment to mixology is unbelievable and unbeknownst to many. How I pity those living under rocks in Sofia's presence. Alcohol based cocktails or not, you're doing yourself a disservice by not being right here. You're in safe hands when you come here, and with the future trajectory of the new cocktail menu, I can attest that all patrons at this place will be in even...
