Kahawa Cafe — Restaurant in Coventry

On the initial experience I liked the place. So we decided to come back and have some lunch. Service was pretty rubbish. Lots of staff but many of them on their phones not paying attention. I had to return my tea as it was nasty. My colleague had to go back to the counter as the staff were distracted by social media. This could be a really good lunchtime venue for business if the staff were managed correctly. Food was ok, but let down by the experience.

We attended the cafe first at around 11am for coffee. Then we came back at around 1-1.30 for lunch on the 15th March. The particular staff member had their back towards the door behind the counter looking at their phone. Always thought about visiting Kahawa Cafe but never found it appealing when pearing in as passing by. Finally visited yesterday and it pains me to give such a low rating to a business whose owner is very welcoming, smiling and diligent in his service to clientèle. However he was not there when we arrived. Staff did not greet us, no simple pleasantry, no clean tables, locked toilet, twice told it's occupied until i pressed for access, slightly cold atmosphere, delay in service etc. Once owner arrived, his smile just warmed up the place as he tidied up to help out. Hence 3 stars and not two. Food was good, portion size just perfect, hot chocolate so so. Hopefully some staff etiquette training and other minor improvements can help Kahawa. We'll not be returning for a while until service improves...

We came for the wave and randomly came across this cafe, and we were so surprised with the owners hospitality. He was extremely helpful, even cut the edges for my kids sandwich, and ensured he was given his milk first, as little one was so cranky after the swim. A lovely human being.

The food is on another level, the desi tea is fresh, the kebabs are fresh and not the frozen stuff that some places use. You can tell all the products are served with love and care and not just thrown onto a plate.

We know that next time we can order their all day breakfast option! Will be back here soon, I’m sure it will be a regular place to eat after going for a swim. Don’t miss out and give this place a try. The ambience is relaxing, the food caters for everyone, the staff are hospitable, what more can...
