CeX — Local services in Great Britain

Stumbled into this whilst travelling for work, and as a former Store Manager for a CeX, this has to be one of the worst I have ever been to.

Unlike many CeX's, it is well staffed, with I believe 5 mid-week, but none will approach you or make any effort to try and get the line down. I probably spent 20 minutes waiting to see some headphones on my lunchbreak, 4 behind the till, one serving with 3 others either on their phones, talking to one another and doing everything possible to avoid eye contact with anyone in the line.

The store itself is an absolute pit, gaps everywhere, shop floor dirty with game cases thrown around, doesn't look like it has been faced up in about a month. I also took an interest in the GPU's on display, but wouldn't touch them with a 10ft barge pole as they were coated in thick yellow dust.

The worst was yet to come though, out of the 9 or so airpod cases open and on display, 2 were very clearly fake, not even good fakes and one had someone's name engraved on them.

The store is clearly lacking direction, usually if I get into conversation in a store I admit to running a CeX once upon a time, but if they had been approaching customers I wouldn't have said so, as a store like this is what gives CeX a rough name.

Hire people that care and have some passion!

On cex website they claimed to have a Sony Xperia one mk 4 phone in the Taunton branch so I went all the way from Weymouth to purchase it & when I got there was told they sold it on line, you can't phone the cex shops before you go to check if they still got it, next day on the cex web site it still as they have the phone at Taunton in stock, 3 years ago i went to cex in Salisbury as they claimed to have a Xperia one phone £410 when I got there it was a Sony z5 worth about £50 with a label on it saying sony Xperia one £410, trying to pass it off as a Xperia one. After this waste of time & money Taunton trip I'm never setting foot in another cex shop again, most of the secondhand dvds in cex you can purchase cheaper new on Amazon, even seen second hand phones & blue tooth speakers etc in cex at a much higher price than you can buy them in shops new, seems theres a market in selling secondhand goods for more then they cost new as there's a lot of silly people out there that don't know the...

Went into store today, was left 5 minutes before I was seen and had been stood at the till all that time. The chap that served me didn't have very much product knowledge and we had to help him with the names of products for trade-in. He was given minimal support by other colleagues/management. We felt a little sorry for him and could see he was struggling but also trying his best. When he realised he had pressed the wrong button on the till he was given no support to correct it and was left to try and rectify it. He quoted us £40 for an item however, when the receipt was printed for the trade in it said £0.90 so it was £40 overall not for that product. We did not bring this to his attention as felt a little bad for him. When we went back to store he gave us the voucher and then processed the rest of the transaction ok.
