Made an appointment for a consultation with George through their very easy to use booking website, after finding The Secret Garden on Instagram and searching through hundreds of beautiful hair transformations and deciding “this is the salon for me”. My first impressions of the hair salon was “wow”! From the exterior, The Secret Garden had a beautiful shop front covered in flowers and the interior to follow was stunning, decorated in a crisp white with a contemporary, botanical, industrial theme, with greenery draping every corner and ceiling, complimented with soft, brown leather salon chairs and a plush velvet waiting sofa. I had a thorough consultation with George who allowed me to express my specifications for my hair without interruption or judgement. I felt listened to and understood. I was given a full breakdown of the options available to me with benefits explained. We decided together on a plan of action, I was given a skin test and proceeded to a booking date. I returned to the salon so excited to be a part of The Secret Garden’s clientele. I was greeted warmly and seen to promptly. George reiterated the plan we had decided upon and the colouring commenced. The salon had such a comfortable vibe where you instantly felt relaxed. Conversation flowed with ease between myself, George, Darren and Maddie. George gave me a full head of baby lights, an in-between colour with an Olaplex treatment, (treated to a spine tingling head massage from Maddie which was TO DIE FOR) toner, cut and style. I skipped out of the salon feeling a brand new woman with a sleek seamless blend of cool toned highlights which feels revived by the olaplex treatment and fresh restyle. Finished with soft beach waves. I was given styling tips and aftercare advice along with suggestions of products suitable to my hair needs. 5 stars is not enough. Perfect. I’m someone who finds going to the salon incredibly anxiety-inducing—I’ve avoided it for over a year because of how uncomfortable it usually makes me feel. So walking into this appointment was a big deal for me, especially since it was also my first time getting my hair dyed.

From the moment I met Darren, I felt completely reassured. He took the time during the consultation to really listen to what I wanted and talk me through the process in a calm, friendly, and respectful way. His approach made me feel seen and at ease, which is not something I ever expected to say about a salon visit.

Throughout the appointment, he regularly checked in to make sure I was comfortable, offering tea, coffee, and just creating an environment that felt genuinely welcoming and relaxed.

And the result? I absolutely love my hair. Darren did an amazing job—it looks even better than I imagined. I left feeling not just happy with my hair but also with the whole experience.

I haven't had my hair cut in 2 years and i wanted it doing before my due date. I booked via the online system which I had to ask for help as I had no idea what I wanted. 😂🤦‍♀️ The booking system was really easy to use and gave you choices of which hairdresser to choose from. As this was my first time at The Secret Garden I wasn't fussed on who I chose. When I arrived I was greeted by Kaia who was doing my hair, she was very friendly and welcoming. 😊 When she asked what I wanted doing I told her I wasn't sure but as long as i could get it up in a pony I am not fussed, she recommended how much to take off and to put some soft layers in which I was more than happy with. Throughout the appointment Kaia explained everything that she was doing and asked if I was happy with everything which I was! 😄 Safe to say I have found a hairdressers that I am more than happy to go back to in the future!
