I came across this little shop by mistake, but wow, it was definitely this week’s most fortuitous mistake.
I was greeted by a trio of lovely, friendly and helpful ladies who guided me through the menu and numerous free tasters sitting on the counter. I really loved the Garlic Tofu and the shredded chicken. But I finally went with a really tasty pork dish, served with super tasty rice, broccoli and seaweed salad. I added a side of tender heart soy egg which was also tasty and incredibly well cooked for something so simple. I can whole heartedly recommend this takeaway if you fancy something a little different and are willing to “give it a go”. Read moreI was really impressed with the food at Taste of Xiangxi! The beef shank was super tender and full of flavour, you can tell it’s been marinated just right. The chicken feet were so soft and just fell off the bone, really satisfying to eat. The pork belly was nice and chewy, with a great texture and loads of flavour – no weird aftertaste, just proper authentic cooking.
The Xiangxi-style cold noodles were spot on too – the sauce was the perfect mix of tangy and spicy, and the noodles were nice and firm. It went really well with the marinated dishes. Read moreI was interested to try them out after seeing their Instagram account and it did not dissappint! We had their rice bowl with beef tendon and noodles with spicy beef brisket and both were absolutely delicious! The beef brisket quite literally melted on the tongue and the spice was a pleasant warmth - add the crunch of peanuts and fresh garlic and I already know I'll be visiting again. Staff were incredibly friendly and sweet - definitely a must try if in the area! I for one cannot wait to come back to try some more...
