UPDATE
My partner and I visited the Ivy Asia earlier this year and had a mixed experienced, largely due to inattentive staff (see the original review below). We posted a review reflecting this and, to his credit, Will Harper, the General Manager of the Ivy Asia got in touch with us to apologise for the poor experience. He encouraged us to visit again and offered us a complimentary bottle of champagne.
We visited the Ivy Asia again yesterday and the contrast to our previous experience was completely noticeable. The staff who served us were completely caring and attentive, ensuring our drinks were constantly refilled and that new cutlery was frequently brought the table along with new glasses where required. The staff constantly asked if everything was ok, or they could do anything to improve our experience.
To summarise, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely be coming back to the Ivy Asia again soon.
ENDS
My partner and I visited Ivy Asia Leeds recently and had a fairly mixed experience. On the one hand, the venue is stunningly well designed with beautiful Japanese wallpaper and imagery. The food was also very stylishly presented and tasty. We were both very impressed with this part of the experience.
However, the customer service was at best lacking and quite poor given what you expect at a place which advertises itself as being high quality. The staff were very inattentive. For example, after I finished my wine they simply took away my glass without asking if I wanted more. After each dish, they would take them away without asking if we would like more dishes.
The reception staff were no better – when I went to collect our coats before leaving my partner realised that she had left her gloves by our table, so she went to retrieve them. Instead of politely waiting with me, the lady from reception simply flung our coats at me to hold and walked off. I did think that was rather rude as she gave every impression that whatever she had to do was more important than spending a minute to look after a customer.
The exception to this was the doorman, who was friendly, polite and attentative at all times.
So, overall, a very mixed experience. I don’t think it would stop us from going again, but we would want to see some significant improvements in the...
Read moreI booked this for my friends 30th birthday. We ordered the champagne blossom tea for two. I had also stated that I was disabled in the booking notes along with it being my friends birthday so they were aware and if I could have a booth rather than a chair due to disability reasons.
When we entered we were greeted by a young lady who was on her phone, after taking details she gathered menus and walked us up the stairs. It took me a while due to disability, this could have been avoided as there was a lift but I did not know this till I saw it at the top. We were however placed near the disabled toilets which was good. Although if you do struggling with grip in your hands etc the inner of the disabled toilet door doesn’t actually have a handle just a twist lock. This may be an issue for someone with cerebral palsy for example.
The main gentleman we had in the suit was very pleasant and explained all about our experience. The food was fantastic, very fresh and tasty no complaints at all. However, we asked for some extra dipping sauce and it was brought by kitchen staff who didn’t take the opportunity to tell us what it actually was it was just dropped off and she disappeared.
The interior design is very cool and I really liked the feather cushions in the booth this was also a great plus for my disability to be comfortable. It was quite bright as we were near the windows this took away from some ambience but would be better in the evening when darker.
We were not rushed at all which was lovely and a birthday treat was brought out for my friend and it was a nice touch. Everything was also very clean down to the cutlery.
When we were leaving, the lady at the front of house was on her phone again and didn’t even notice us leaving till were walking out the door. It’s a shame as she is the front of house and you can see her as you pass on the street it’s not the best image
Overall the food was fantastic, price was okay drinks included were great. If you are disabled parking in JL means you will have to...
Read moreWe walked upstairs and the decor is fantastic. Very appealing. The volume of the music is ridiculous, oppressive. Considering the average age of the people we saw, invoking Ibiza vibes doesn't seen appropriate. It's far too loud and makes it difficult to hear anyone speak including the waiter explaining the "concept" of the place. We had cocktails and they were good. We ordered wontons and prawn toast first. The prawn toast was fantastic although we were a table of 4 and there were only 3 of them. Apparently they couldn't do 4 on a plate..........why I don't know? We'd happily pay more. In fact, we did because they were so good we got 3 more. The wontons were actually just wonton pastry fried into crisps and served with a dipping sauce. They are a rip-off and are not what wontons are. They are the kind of thing that should be free in the middle of the table. I would think most people expect their wontons to have a filling and not be fashioned into a glorified crisp. Next we had prawn dumplings, which were not hot enough, which made them a bit claggy. The gyozas and tempura prawns were good. For mains we had prawn rendang which we all thought had a strange sweetness. It was full of lychees which made it very sweet and was nothing like any rendang I have had before. It was very watery and I think it's an absolute failure of a dish. We also had lamb massaman curry which was also watery and tasted just ok. The pork belly looked good and tasted good. The fried rice was also good. For dessert we had the chocolate samurai which wasn't to my liking. It was a bit dry and one note. Just chocolaty. The creme brulee was good. The cheesecake was a biscuit in a glass and covered with fillings affair. Not very luxurious and completely...
