My friends and I thought that we should check out the store as we are on the hunt for some new fragrances and have seen reviews of diptque online so we were very excited to come visit the store and smell the variety of scents available. I had the most uncomfortable experience ever in a retail store. As soon as we came in no sales associate paid any attention to us, we didnât think much of it so we just smelt the testers available to see which one we liked the most. As we were smelling it, the asian sales associate (female) ran straight to the door to lock it. The door was not locked when we came into the store, there was a group of white girls in the shop and the door was opened wide however when my friends and I came in (All black girls) they took it upon themselves to see us as a threat or of caution hence locking the door not even 5 minutes into the store. This not only made us extremely uncomfortable and felt a sense of hate crime but also makes it very difficult for us to get the same treatment in simple things like visiting a perfume shop. I would never reccomend this brand to anyone due to how the sales associate treated us in the store and unfortunately I will not be buying from this company as their service consisted of being dismissive over certain groups like ourselves. The picture uploaded was a live photo of the sales associate running to the door to lock it as soon as we got...
Read moreI have had no issues with them before, having visited them quite often to add to my growing collection, until my recent visit. The salesmen working at the store seem to ignore you and only wait on customers they think will pay. And this approach seemed very classist and racist honestly. Only saw caucasians being shown genuine customer service and only if they were dressed âappropriatelyâ for the store. How awful. Even when I approached them they seem to want to get rid of me quickly. If that was not the case then unfortunately that was the energy I felt. Unwanted. Overall, not a good visit.
A customer before me, who had bought a very similar in price item, seemed to get a free sample without having requested it. However, when I was next at the till I was barely acknowledged only to be swiftly shown the card payment. Had to request the samples. Normally have never had an issue with this either. The samples were what drove me to become a loyal consumer as I got to experience different smells in my own leisure and having loved it enough to come back to buy the full size.
The acquaintance I came with also did not feel comfortable being in the store and had to leave part way and wait outside, because the staff were staring at him with a âwary expressionâ due to his...
Read moreThis particular location feels a bit off compared to other Diptyque stores Iâve visited. As other reviewers have mentioned, staff helpfulness seems to be commensurate with their perception of the customers based on appearanceâŚweirdly feel immediately âjudgedâ upon entering each time Iâve visited. I did end up stopping in on my birthday to purchase an assorted EDT set and the person helping me choose my scents was helpful and I received the complimentary small birthday candle upon request. Of note, all other diptyque shops Iâve visited have offered complimentary scent samples without purchase, but this one did not. Not sure if this is standard practice or not but the first time I stopped in I was told samples are only given with purchases. Fair enough, but they actually didnât include any samples when I purchased the EDT set. Overall less positive experience at this location than others...
